The most awesome State Park in Virginia!! Pristine and beautiful. So much to do and so little time. This park is a hikers paradise, as well as a campers paradise. I cannot say enough good things about Douthat.
My son and I rented a rustic cabin for a week. It was perfect! Everything we needed was inside - it's historic and loaded with charm, not fancy but very comfortable with Ac heat and full kitchen. I saw complaints (city slickers) about the stone...More
We stayed in one of the old CCC cabins at Douthat State Park. It was as amazing as any other Virginia State Park we have previously visited. Awesome trails, spillways from the dam, picnic areas, friendly & helpful staff and all around great experience. We...More
After reading how nice this park was we had to experience it ourselves. One of the original state parks, it's very well kept and has something for everyone. We had our travel trailer and had no difficulty finding a space in White Oak campground. There...More
This was our first visit to Douthat State Park, and we enjoyed it a lot. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was very cozy and rustic. The bed was comfortable. The cabin included a fireplace, a small fully-stocked kitchen, bathroom, and an outdoor...More
First let me say I would give the park a 4 or maybe a 5 by itself. I be enjoyed the views, some hiking, the restaurant and this trip decided to stay in a cabin for the weekend. We picked the cabin for its privacy...More
I see why this is a favorite. It is one of the original Virginia State Parks (a highly regarded and awarded system), but does not show its age. This was a day trip to walk trails and do a little geocaching, yet I am making...More
Wow! This is the most breathtaking setting for an outdoor ceremony! There is a view of the mountain range, beach with a playground, and lake! Stunning! Bathrooms were accessible, tent worked great on the lawn, benches and a pulpit and stage already on the property...More

Trip Advisor doesn't allow links in responses so you might want to visit our website, go to Douthat and then click under Park Trail Guide and choose facility guide. You can see how the cabins are spread out. While I won't say you can't see another cabin unless you reserve the Douthat Lodge, I'd suggest 10, 11, 12 or 13. At Douthat all of the cabins except 26-30, and 33-35 were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
