Welcome to the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center! The Arts and Crafts Center is here to encourage your interest in and enjoyment of the visual arts of the Alleghany Highlands, and to have some fun in the process. We hope you will take a moment to explore our gallery exhibits, take part in an event or class, and stroll through The Center Shop. We have a small professional and a large number of dedicated volunteer so the Center is also a great place to learn more about other fun things going on in the Alleghany Highlands. We represent more than 260 working artist and crafts people who work with everything from oil and watercolor to baskets and wood;and a whole lot in between! It has all been made by hand and juried or selected for its originality , good design and fine craftsmanship. We also have regularly changing gallery exhibits. Whether you want to learn how to paint, draw, needle felt or just explore your own creativity, we have classes and workshops for a wide variety of ages throughout the year. We live in a beautiful part of Virginia and hope you will enjoy both our community and the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center. Welcome! Everything in our Center is made by hand and has been juried and selected for its originality, good design and fine craftsmanship. We currently have work by more than 260 artists and crafts people in almost every media, including: baskets, pottery, oils, watercolor, jewelry, prints, collage, wood, wearable and decorative fiber, cards, drawings, photography, glass, and sculpture. If you want to learn how to make something or polish your skills, check out Hands On - our class and workshop listings. Gallery exhibits change every 5-6 weeks. Items in The Center Shop can change weekly. We hope you will let us know what you think and like us on Facebook. When you visit in person, you'll find volunteers happy to tell you about our artists, help you learn more about the area and find other interesting things to see and do in the Highlands. This is a beautiful part of Virginia. We hope you will enjoy both The Alleghany Highlands and the Arts and Crafts Center. Admission to the Center is free and we are handicapped accessible. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we went out of our way to visit this venue. We really enjoyed browsing through all of the different items on sale. Both couples purchased a few items. Very fun place!

Enjoyed seeing all unique the art, wood work and jewelry. Some of the pieces took a lot of creativity and time to make. I will be going back.

I am not a big craft person, but I am a local-color person who enjoys checking out cultural destinations. This one is really boring, but I accept that this is a matter of taste.

Lots of eclectic finds here! Local high schools even had displays up. They had the usual 2D paintings but also had apparel and jewelry and wood turned items too. Nice selections and decent prices. Docent was good company too!
