We walked on the Virginia Creeper trail in Abingdon VA. The trail is well marked and has many beautiful sights to see. We saw a lot of walkers and bikers too. The trees have just started to change color along the trail.

Rent a bike or take your own and prepare for a fun morning. We did the mostly downhill portion from White Top to Damascus. It's not strenuous so just about anyone can ride the trail and enjoy the fresh air a beautiful mountain scenery.

My wife and I visit the VCT on the recommendation of a friend - glad we did it! We are novice, middle-age riders and enjoyed it greatly. I would recommend going during the week vs. on a weekend for less crowds.

This is a really fun activity with several qualifications. If you are an avid bike rider, this is not your best option. The trail is narrow and there are lots of people who don't normally bike, especially if you go on a Saturday. That means...More

A fun trip that the entire family can do. Pretty scenery and a nice place for lunch along the way. We have been two years in a row using the same outfitter. Damascus is a nice little town with friendly folks. Worth checking out.

Must have wide tires!!! As a long-distance cyclist, this trail wasn’t what I was expecting. The section from Whitetop to Damascus is gravel, but chunky, not crushed. Past Damascus is more compact, but down to ruts in places. If you don’t ride bikes much, you...More

Biking the Creeper Trail is a must when you visit Damascus. It's absolutely beautiful especially this time of year and if you go during the week it's not crowded so you can take your time. Definitely stop at the Creeper Trail Cafe for lunch and...More

My friends wanted to take the shuttle to Whitetop and cruise the downhill to Damascus but somehow I convinced 3 of our group to brave the 17 uphill miles and then glide the down to town. We are experienced cyclist averaging 70 years old and...More

Have been to Damascus 4 times in the last decade. Came alone and with groups. Rode once and rode twice. Wish it was closer to Hampton Roads, Virginia. Been in the summer and in the fall--both great. Abingdon is a nice little town to hang...More

Because of this being peak season for leaf color changing (and its beautiful), places are very booked up. I usually have good luck with VRBO and Travelocity. Go! awesome!!

It depends...we stayed in Damascus at a camp ground because we wanted to have a halfway point to complete the entire trail.
