I have been to many Civil War museums, but this has to be the largest collection of excavated relics I've ever seen. Dug primarily by one man and his family, there is an amazing amount of relics to be seen. The sheer quantity of items...More

This is a privately owned museum located out in the country. From the outside a first time visitor might think 'this is a museum'? On entering three men were sitting & talking. I asked 'who do I pay'? Donnie said 'that would be me'. The...More

I love this place, I go there all the time. It's full of Civil War history and artifacts, and Mr. Newton is really nice and helpful to answer all my questions. I suggest you visit the museum before the Battlefields. Jo C.

If you are not already a history buff, you will not know what you are looking at. No guided tour, but they did ask if we had questions. Cost is not free, so be expected to pay all little.

Danny Newton, who created the museum is amazing. Danny is a very quiet person, but truly is an expert. The White Oak Civil War museum takes no state or Federal funding. All of this started when his father returned from WWII with a very early...More

A must visit for civil war buffs! Especially those interested in the encampments throughout Stafford County! Mr. Newton is very knowledgeable and spent a good deal of time discussing specific locations of encampments throughout the area!

A very interesting museum with lots of civil war relics. Many units camped in Stafford county during the winter of 1862-63. Mr. Newton was very helpful in telling us where the 1st corps camped, drew us maps and was a wealth of information.
