Belle Boyd Cottage is not an earth shaking historical site -- but it is worth a visit. The cottage was home to a female Confederate spy (who sounds like she was quite a character). The cottage is staffed by volunteer docents from the historical society and they take their jobs seriously. I have visited twice, and each time we got... More

Front Royal Va. Is a treasure trove of finds for those that are driven by history enthusiasm. This is where a female spy resided. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend the time to answer all questions.

We went to Front Royal this time, just to see this attraction, because we plan to bring our grandchildren to it next summer. We LOVED seeing this museum. Nelly gave us a fabulous tour of the Belle Boyd Cottage, with an overview of Belle's life before her contribution to Jackson's attack at Front Royal, plus information on her life afterward.... More

Belle Boyd was a brave and fearless young girl and woman who would do ANYTHING to help the Confederate cause during the Civil War. We toured the home on a Monday and my husband and I were the only ones there, so we got a private tour. Amanda, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable both on the house and on the... More

Mrs. Corey made Belle Boyd come alive for our group. Her enthusiasm and knowledge were exceptional. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised by the history of Belle Boyd in the Civil War.

This is the teaser for Balthis House. It was nice and the history with the house is neat but you need to do the full tour.

We had a wonderful tour of Belle Boyd's cottage. This feisty and fascinating young confederate female spy lived in Front Royal during a pivotal time in her espionage career. The cottage was on a detour for us but well worth the time we spent there. I love it when history comes alive! The "Siren of the Shenandoah" became a real... More

I LOVED Skyline Caverns and the Museums in Front Royal. The Skyline Caverns and it's surrounding area is so beautiful, and I enjoyed driving on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Park. The Confederate Museum and Belle Boyd Cottage were very interesting. I am so glad that I visited here.

We spent a long weekend in the Front Royal area and we are glad we spent some time in town - not only for the Festival of Leaves but for the "Old Town" area under the auspices of the Warren Heritage Society. Old historic buildings with experienced guides make shtis a wonderful place to better understand the history of the... More

Very nice little museum with some good exhibits regarding local history. We were there in time to take a tour of the Belle Boyd cottage, which is directly behind the museum. Our guide, Nicholas, was very informative and not only provided us with a history of the house itself but also that of Belle Boyd, who was a spy for... More
