Worth a stop

I stopped by this cemetery to take photos. It is quiet and a beautiful setting. It is also near the beautiful Rust Library.

My mother and I arrived for a friend's burial, and it was an exemplary service, and the family was well served by the cemetery. It was afterwards that I would like to comment on ... my mother and I had wanted to find some family burial plots at this cemetery, so after the other ceremony we went to the office,... More

This cemetery is a beautiful mix of old and new graves and everything everything in between. I visited two days before Memorial Day and got to witness as flags both (American and Confederate) were placed on the graves. The cemetery is very well maintained, but not the best well-laid out. It was not the best day to wander around as... More

As a cemetery buff this is one of the most charming and filled with history. Completely lined with pre-Civil War trees and beautiful winding access through the facility. Historic Leesburg dates back to 1767, and many of the tombstones read like a history book. Just to walk through this cemetery is a charmer. Great place to visit and review a... More

This is a lovely, peaceful cemetery just a couple of blocks off of downtown historic Leesburg. It was founded in 1851, so don't mistake this for a Union-sided cemetery from the Civil War. A local historian told us it's named Union because the churches in town united to create a cemetery here.

Next to Ida Lee Park, this cemetery has plenty of older graves many of which relate to the families that were large in Leesburg, VA's history. Many names were familiar based on place names currently in Leesburg (such as Ida Lee) and notable residents (such as Arthur Godfrey). Cemetery is not limited to Union troops as name might suggest with... More

This is a traditional cemetery with numerous graves stretching back to the founding of Leesburg into the present day. Not really a tourist site unless you are a history buff in search of those who founded Leesburg and other northern Virginia towns. Some interesting stonework throughout.

I just stopped in here last week while in DC for business. I was here only long enough to take a handful of pictures before leaving for work. I don't know how long of a visit you could make out of a cemetery, but if you're ever in Leesburg and have a few minutes to kill, stop in here and... More
