Really enjoyed the selection, but what's particularly strong about the Maier is the descriptions next to each picture which really help the viewer to contextualize and think about what s/he is looking at.

We went to the Maier Museum of Art, thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews. This museum is small, but just big enough for an art lover to get their "art fix" and for small children to be able to appreciate some pieces of art before getting...More

We happened upon this museum by reading about it in our AAA trip book! As an artist I love seeing newer art as well as the classics. This museum has both and was a joy to visit! We took about an hour and a half...More

In fairness, I've been to most of the great art museums in the western hemisphere. What I liked is that while the collection is small, the plaques on each piece gave more info. than most, explaining about the artist's training and life, as well as other...More

This is a small museum owned by Randolph College. The collection is impressive although some of the finest works were sold to maintain the college. There are some gems here by well known 19th and 20th century artists--Dove, Cassatt, O'Keeffe.. Definitely worth the stop.

The Maier Museum is owned and operated by Randolph College and supports the college's art collection. Regular rotating curated exhibits occur in conjunction with curricular offerings, but are easily accessible and wonderfully educational for everyone. The permanent exhibits are remarkably diverse.
