The Maier Museum on the campus of Randolph College has an exceptional collection for an art museum of its size and location. From its inception Classes and Alumna have donated high quality works of art...Thomas Hart Benton and William Merritt Chase to name a few. If you are an art lover visiting Lynchburg it is a must.

I am an alum of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, and many a day I spent perusing the art at the Maier. For such a small musem, the Maier houses an incredible collection of American art. The admission is also free, though a donation is encouraged. A highlight show at the end of every academic term in the Senior Art Show; art... More

I first visited the museum when we were renting, a year ago, in Lynchburg and looking to purchase a home. We did, in nearby Forest, VA, and I have since begun to volunteer at the Maier Museum because I was so impressed with it. Well worth seeing. They have an interesting, varied collection of American Art.

I must admit that I attended Randolph College when it was Randolph-Macon Woman's College, so I'm quite familiar with the Maier Museum. Beginning in the early 1900s, the College - under the expert guidance of its art department - began acquiring masterpieces coveted by much bigger, more famous museums. Here are works by, but not limited to, Georgia O'Keefe, Childe... More

A world class collection of American art. Situated on campus of Randolph College, it is worthy of some of the finest art museums in the country. Not to be missed

Went because of a friend who's a Randolph College alumna. Two welcoming curators, one of whom let me stay for a few minutes after the closing time to study the last few paintings. In only four galleries they have an impressive array from different periods and genres. Easy to get to from downtown, between the campus and a gorgeous public... More

A small, really very small as you only need about thirty minutes but still a nice Contemporary section. Buried in the Randolph College campus and it was shame there was not a small cafe.

Super and beautiful art surprisingly tucked away off the main street. Well worth the visit. Can't wait to go again.
