The Pest House along with the Hearse House and Caretakers Museum, the Station House Museum and the Mourning Museum are all part of the Old City Cemetery. There is also a Chapel on the property. It was a most interesting visit to this historic cemetery....More

This little "museum" is inside the old cemetery. You walk around the outside of the little building looking in at the various Civil War era displays of how disease was treated 150 years ago. Very interesting and disturbing!

The Pest house is part of the Old City Cemetery. Very educational. Makes you glad that you have access to modern medicine..

Couched within the Old Cemetery, Pest Medical Museum is an interesting piece of history. The little recordings add to what you can see inside, and taking the time to listen to it will teach you a great deal.

We went to see it because everyone said they liked it. Well we went and the audio didn't work and you can't go inside. It didn't cost anything but I would not waste my time

You don't go into the house. You walk around it and look into the windows. With the push of a button, a recorded message plays as you peek inside. Civil Wartime medical artifacts.

We could only view through the viewing windows the day we visited but by pushing a button you get a fairly detailed explanation of the why and hows of the Pest House and a medical history lesson.

This museum is part of Old City Cemetary. Although I was particularly interested in seeing the heritage roses in bloom, this small building was very interesting with a living history recording explaining the medical procedures of the Civil War period. The quiet of the cemetery,...More

Lynchburg is full of history. Many great spots like this one to just read up on and enjoy. You can easily spend an hour here with out trying.

This will really give you an eye opening look at medical procedures during the 1860s. Just push the button and get a tour back in time to the civil war at one of the busiest medical centers in this city of Lynchburg. Lynchburg just happened...More

My husband and I were glad to see the first hospital in Lynchburg being maintained at the Old City Cemetery.

Enjoyed the History of the Pest House in the Old City Cemetery. Seeing the items in the house opened up some questions from my kids. They got to see how a trip to the doctor's was like back in old days.
