Nice well maintained trails, do not recommend going after dark. Pet friendly. A mix of sun and shade, places to sit in certain areas. Some places along the trail have places you can walk down to the river. Great place to have picnic as well.

We only were on a short portion of the trail. We got to witness the reality of the sign that says, "This is a live track". A local freight came right up and parked a for a while. We only walked the trail as we...More

This is a beautiful, paved walking, bicycle trail that crosses over the James River on an old railroad bridge and leads you onto an island in the middle of the river. Trees abound so there is plenty of shade. Very peaceful and enjoyable. A perfect...More

I love to go jogging here with my daughter. The path is safe and open and great for biking as well. If you want a nice place for just a casual walk I highly recommend the scenery on the trail

Love this place wish we had more trails throughout Va. I enjoy it as much as my dogs do they could walk forever and so many people to visit with.

RiverWalk starts along Riverfront Park through historic downtown Lynchburg. This section of downtown has a variety of places to grab bite to eat or a drink -- including many craft beers from local breweries. You then cross over to Percival's Island, a beautiful natural area...More

Having only a hour or so before needing to start our 6-hr drive, we lucked into finding and taking an hour hike. This trail system apparently runs through Lynchburg for 15 or so miles and offers a good venue for walking, hiking, running and probably...More

I ride and walk this trail all the time: one of the best things about Lynchburg: seldom crowded. The best part is going through the old railway tunnel. The loop for me is about 17-18 miles.

It is up near Amazement Square and Depot Grille. There is also a skateboard park near there as well.
