I've hiked here in the spring and in the fall and wanted to check it out in the winter. This place is gorgeous. Despite the sleet and freezing rain one day it was still enjoyable. The wild ponies didn't seem to mind the weather either!

We came to do the highpoint (which is actually outside the park), and I had read that it was a scenic walk, but I really had no clue that it would be this nice! This has got to be one of the most beautiful places...More

I went twice to Grayson Highlands State Park to climb Mount Rogers. The first time in August, the weather was not good at all with continuous heavy rain, so we didn't make it. We could nevertheless enjoy the many poneys which are living there. In...More

We had a great day here hiking up to the pinnacles and also hiking up to see the ponies. We saw 20 different ponies and speculated views.

Enjoyed the perfect fall wedding outdoors at Grayson Highlands. Could not have had a prettier setting than the area near the Wayne Henderson festival stage.

The views from this park are just simply stunning. We visited during the late leaf season, and were in awe of the beautiful vistas. The ponies were a treat too - though they are clearly habituated to humans. Although we're supposed to "keep a safe...More

Remote with few conveniences nearby so no light pollution and quiet. Campsites are too close together given size of park. I drove 4 hours from Raleigh and was still up next to neighbors.

We went on a whim. Had an amazing time! We did part of the rhododendron trail. Kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks. We saw a lot of the wild ponies that were beautiful. Highly recommend!!

Visited during to see colors on trees. Cabin Creek Trail was our favorite. About 2 miles with several waterfalls along trail. Not too strenuous. Good Views of Tennessee, Virginia and NC from Pinnacle Trails. Wild ponies on Rhododendron Trail - only about 1/2 mile and...More

I was backpacking so I did not use the campground. But from previous experience in other campgrounds there are tent sites with electrical. These are nice if you want to hang lights or charge phones etc. I have run a small... More
