We visited as part of a trip through VA while returning from a family trip to a destination in SC. Like any cave, you need to dress for it. Shoes with good traction are a must, as is a light jacket or sweatshirt. We were lucky and came at an unusually quiet time - Sunday afternoon, and not in the... More

...I thought about that last part once during our trip deep into the earth and I had a mini panic attack, literally. So here is the thing, we have caverns very close to our home in Ohio and when you go to them you walk down what feels like a million steps and then you are down to the final... More

Enjoyable but rather cool and quite a walk slippery narrow steep and dark. Would not reccomend for young children. No strollers.

We had a most excellent tour guide and enjoyed every step of the caverns. Be prepared to walk up and down and wear good grippy shoes. The staff have done an wonderful job of making sure everyone is safe . Lighting within the caverns and the steps etc are done quite well. We were the only ones our our tour... More

A beautiful state park with the Natural Bridge near the beginning and a lovely waterfall about 3/4 of a mile walk along a creek. The park employees were extremely friendly and helpful. You can walk a 137 steps or take the shuttle bus.

Everything was great at the Caverns. After we hiked the Natural Bridge paths we took our kids to the Caverns. It was a great learning experience for them. Selena was a wonderful tour guide. She knew a lot about the Caverns and their history. She explained things where they were easy for a child to understand. She had a great... More

refined spelunking for the faint of heart. These are said to be the deepest and largest caves in the area. Stalactites & Stalagmites everywhere. Good lessons in geology and history.

My husband and I toured the caverns on New Year's Eve and were not disappointed. They're smaller in size than some other close caverns (like Luray) but still worth it. Our guide was really knowledgeable and we had a small group which made it a really great experience. If they ask if you want to try cave darkness, go for... More

Right out of HWY 81 seats this majestic site. Very beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Recommended for all ages- state park has transportation from the center to the site for those who can walk too much. There is a wonderful .75-1 mile trail to the waterfall if you are opt to the walk.

Since I was in the area, I decided to see the caverns. Most caves I have been to have been amazing, and this cave did not disappoint. It is not your typical cave tour. You see amazing things down here. Be advised that you do have to climb many steps. Not recommended for those who have trouble climbing stairs.
