Amazing trip outside the town. Holy place for buddhist people. Caves full of Buddha statues. We haven't met one foreigner, only local excluded us. Higly recommended

Good for adult but not so suitable for young kids to go into deep cave channel.
The time our family went into the cave, we have 3 kids to handle so we decide not to go in further.
We just went into the first view of the cave only. Wasted but no choice coz do not want to take risk with kids.
It's is safe to go into the cave. Only you need to remove shoes, slippers & scandals due to religious place.

Firstly to enter the cave you must remove your foot wear. Inside the cave is not so nice to walk dust, sand and mud makes it slippery. Not at all pleasant to walk

The caves are well visited by local people who come to pay respects. They are full of golden budhas and statues of monks, visitors taking pictures and leaving flowers and placing gold on the statues. Popular place for outings

When you arrive at the car park you think that something special is about to happen as the car park is full of people. Walk the short distance to the cave and there is almost a mini market place of stalls and heaps of people splashing about in a small stream coming from the cave.
As it's a shrine you need to remove footwear, but it's very welcome as the floor is wet, and cold ---- lovely.
We had a bit of a dispute with the Buddhist's at the entrance over our camera fee. Not that I'm unhappy with the 100 Kayt, just don't give them a note bigger than what they ask for as they won't give you change.
But once that was sorted and you are in the cave you'll be blown away at its collection of shrines and Buddha's.
They come in all sizes and shapes and right towards the end there is even a temple.
I can't not tell you just how amazing this place is.
Well worth the effort in getting here.

This cave is not in Pyin Oo Lwin but it only takes about half an hour with a car to get there. I would recommend you to visit this place as going to Pyin Oo Lwin itself is already a full day trip. There’s nothing much to do in the town apart from visiting Catholic churches, the botanical garden and the old colonial houses. Those places will take at most 3 or 4 hours. You can visit those places in the morning, have lunch and then go to this cave. It’s actually a cave with running water. It’s a place very popular with the locals too. There’s a waterfall that comes out of the cave. It takes about 40 minutes to explore the cave so if you have respiratory problems, I would suggest you not to go in as it can be crowded sometimes and the cave is humid.

Suggested Itinerary for a full day trip :

8:30 am - 9:30 : depart for Pyin Oo Lwin. It takes an hour at most to get there from Mandalay.

9:30 - 11:30 : visit botanical garden. It’s a beautiful place worth visiting. If you happen to visit the place in winter, there is a flower festival and there are more flowers on display.

11:30 - 12:30 : lunch

12:30 - 2:30 : wander around the town and visit churches and colonial houses.

2:20 - 5:00 : visit Peik Chin Myaung Cave.

5:00 - 6:00 : back to Mandalay.

I hope you find this helpful.

This is 3rd time I visited here after several months ago. We visited on Friday which is drab raining day. It's fantastic bcos I didn't expected as I encountered a noise and dirty place on my last visits. Now things are change to better and improved a lot.
Since religion is serious and devoted in Burmese culture, they build a lot of pagodas and Buddha statue in the cave which destroys nature exists. So if you're expecting to see the nature, you will see the religious things instead. Nevertheless, it's worth to visit and pu can buy souvenir from local seller shops just outside from the cave. It's so far from Maymyo and just 15 mins driving distance. On the way, you can enjoy your meal at December garden.

this used to be inaccessible long time ago but now is opened up. The cave has religious monuments inside the winding caves. Its easily accessible with walking footpaths anyone can go in. outside the entrance of the cave have a small waterfall and stepped natural creek which is nice for photo taking. The bazzar outside is very interesting with lots of local products and gifts. There are also ample local style restaurants lining around the car parking place.

I did not expect so many different cave chambers! The walking path goes on and on from one to the next, with interesting lighting displays and many diverse grottos with different style Buddha images and mini pagodas and fake trees

On our second day in Pwyin Oo Lwin, we went to Peik Chin Myaung Cave, a popular attraction near Pyin Oo Lwin. There is a waterfall at the entrance of the cave, and inside the cave are Buddhas, of course, so as with any pagoda or sacred area, you must take off your shoes. However, you don’t just take off your shoes when entering the cave, oh no, that would be logical; you must take off your shoes while down below in the village, leave them in an unsecured cubicle, and walk through dirt and mud to the cave – it’s nature, and there isn’t a clean, paved pathway up to the cave, despite the requirement to take off your shoes.

While I was interested in seeing the cave, I did not want to do a HIKE in bare feet, so I decided to remain below in the village and look around and relax. Perhaps I missed out on something really cool (the photos people posted are really neat), but the idea of hiking through dirt and mud in bare feet is absolutely ridiculous (plus it’s not like I desperately wanted to see another Buddha), which is why I am only giving it two stars. While I waited for my mom to take a look at the cave, I relaxed, looked around the village and food stalls, saw some waterfalls, and wrote TripAdvisor reviews.
