Went there during our time at Cafe De Tirreni. What a wonderfull and majestic place. Even got a little tour of the entire building, however the monk was speaking very little English so it was more a guessing game of what the intention of his stories were.

The Benedictine monks or parishioners must have had a lot of money as this monastery church is very grand. The interior is very fancy with beautiful marble work. Worth a visit if you are passing by.

We were also staying at the Hotel Scapolatiello and had time to walk through the village to the church. Beautiful historical property if you can arrange a tour do it the moment one steps in side of the church the scent is of polished wood.

We were staying in Hotel Scapolatiello, an extraordinary hotel in the narrow streets of Cava de Tirreni. We heard the bells of the Angelus and also at other times the bells rang out, and on enquiry we realised that there was a Benedictine Abbey almost adjacent to us, a little farther down the hills which was founded over a thousand... This is a most beautiful mediaeval monastery which still houses about ten working monks. The architecture of the building is astounding - it is actually built into cliff and incorporates the cliff face. The guided tour is worth taking, showing the beautiful library and the vaults and giving a lot of background information. It has to be said that it... More

The monastery is open for tours in the mornings. Beautiful place but no information in English so try to find out before you come to make the most of it. Visited some rooms in the monastery, the crypt and museum but not the church as there was a service going on.

We were introduced to the Benedictine Abbey of Santissima by guided tour. Holy mass was celebrated there. The views were gorgeous!

Not a picture of the church facility... Which acts as the church base and a venue for conferences. The Community Church.. a church where you can encounter the love , life and power of Jesus. Inspiring and contemporary worship and life changing messages on Sunday morning celebrations . These start at 10:30 each Sunday and finish with free refreshments after... More

Liked: The quiet. The walking. The history. The pictueresque scenery and cool mountina air. Disliked: After 7 days we got tired of the bufffet breakfast as you would at any hotel. One night htere was noisy late-night wedding celebtration..

We paid for a tour which for 3 euro pp was definitely worth it, check opening hours and tour times. The guide was very informative and interesting. Included in the tour there is the visit to the Abbey, the Museum, the Crypt, the Cathedral and the Cloister. The architecture is amazing. The old village of Corpo di Cava is within... More
