About
Enoteca Falorni is the largest enoteca in Tuscany featuring over 1,000 selected wines with more than 100 wines available for tasting, using the innovative enomatic(R) system. The Enoteca is located underground in the historical centre of Greve in Chianti on the site of the first large wine cellar founded by noble land owners of the area (considered the authentic fore bearers of the Chianti Classico consortium). The historical structure has ample spaces with arched brick ceilings, corridors and smaller rooms (originally used as grape storage areas) and tells the story of its long history as a wine cellar that for years represented the economic heart of Greve in Chianti, boasting a line of illustrious owners. Constructed in 1893 by Ernesto Leproni, the location was used as cellars by the Union of Chianti Classico producers in 1906 and subsequently purchased in 1913 by Count Emanuele Mirafiori d'Alba, until being sold to the Gancia di Canelli brothers in 1932. In the 1960's and 1970's the site belonged to the Italo-American dei Paterno family and was left in an abandoned state in 1975. In 1999 the premises were purchased by the Bencista Falorni family and were transformed into the present day Enoteca Falorni, with the aim to promote and give valour to Chianti Classico wines. Its elegance and the presence of more than 1,000 principally Tuscan wines with others from further Italian regions as well as sparkling wines, dessert wines, grappa and olive oil render the Enoteca Falorni an authentic "temple to wine".

The problem with wine tasting at most estates is that you are locked into whatever that estate produces and that one is not always interested in tasting 5 different wines from one estate. Moving between estates takes time, often requires booking and may involve significant tasting fees. In my opinion, Enoteca Falorni is the best tasting option and has several major advantages over the wine estates:
1) It is located in Greve in Chianti which is easy to get to and offers other things to do and see for those in the group who are not interested in wine tasting.
2) It allows you to sample the same grape variety from several vineyards which I find a more useful and educational experience.
3) At between 2 and 7 euro per wine tasted, it is a far more cost-effective option than most vineyards tasting fees, especially when some members of the party want to taste 2 wines and other 8 wines.

It's a wonderful stop for a taste of the entire region! Very helpful staff and a broad range of Tuscan wines and cheeses! The kiosks make it easy to compare different wines. It's a great tasting experience, only 45 minutes south of Florence!

Tasted and purchased wine from an employee named Paolo. Women should be careful tasting wine with this employee. His behavior with women is inappropriate.

Second time here and since 2 years ago the prices duplicated. No other option to eat besides bread and salumi and cheese.

Very big wine shop with good prices.
The cool thing about this enoteca is that you can try a big selection of wines by the glass, 1/2 glass or 1/3 glass.

Unquestionably the best Enoteca I have ever visited (and I have many under my belt!). The amazing variety of wines available for a self-guided taste tour (the nitrogen-sealed auto decanter stations are “state of the art”) give you a fantastic overview of the wine styles - as well as a very helpful sampling of wines you may purchase. The staff are fantastic - so very knowledgeable about Tuscan wines, vintages, and the individual character of them all - their recommendations are very solid.
My wife calls the Enoteca Falorni my “church”!…….and I try to worship as often as I can!

Absolutely loved this place!! The guided tour of the wine museum was very informative and interesting, and the wine selection in the Enoteca itself was fantastic. The staff recommended some great wines and the “pay as you try” system was very fairly priced given the quality of wines on offer. I could have stayed there all day!

It’s very accessible from Florence via the 365 bus, so I would really recommend a visit.

The place is amazing. They have great wines to sell. The tasting is very interesting method, but they only had one Brunello to taste and wasn't that good. Fortunately there were others good choices. What simply can't be accepted is that we ordered lasagna and it was microvaved lasagna. Really? Is better if you don't offer at all.

Thank you Turistaviaja, for your review. At the moment we add other Brunello for tasting, and one is also a very special one. I' m sorry that you didn't like our lasagna, it is prepared by us but is portioned and frozen for practical reasons. Not being a restaurant we do not have a large consumption of it, and this is the best way to guarantee its quality. I'm still happy that it was a good experience for you! Thank you

It’s a treat to be able to taste so many different wines. I’ve been here several times and even in Covid times there are plenty of wines to taste starting at €1 for a taste. With a plate of tagliere (sliced salami, prosciutto, cheese and bread) this is a great way to spend the afternoon.

Not real friendly: take a number and once it’s your turn don’t hesitate... charcuterie board was average. Wine was excellent and setting in the square was very nice. Prices were on the high side
