Lovely, lovely staff and tasty wine!
We visited today with our 20 year old son. We were warmly greeted and our host, a young man whose name I didn’t catch, was warm, friendly, enthusiastic and engaging. He could not have been more informative. The other two staff were also fantastic, one was the owner I think. They were just so lovely. We got to taste SIX wines, (some tours it’s just 3 or 4) so be careful if you are driving, particularly as Italy is about to lower its level of alcohol in the breath/blood. We were served bread, cheese and meat, then warm sausage on bread and bread toasted with olive oil and sea salt. We bought two bottles afterwards. We weren’t hurried out at all, we were probably onsite for over two hours. I warmly recommend this tour. The drive through the countryside to get there is stunning, make sure you turn into the vineyard (signage could be clearer from the main road) even though it looks like a track. There is a house opposite on the main road with a blue parking sign outside it which is a wee bit confusing, so don’t park there!

Big wine in a small package!
Wonderful small winery that produces about 17,000 bottles a year. We made reservations beforehand and then waited for another group for about 15-20 min to start the tour and they never showed. Another couple happened to come after we had been on tour about 10 min so they were nice to include them but then we almost started the tour over which was nice for the new couple, but made a long tour for us. The wine is delicious. The views from the terrace where the tastings are is gorgeous. The snacks they served with the tastings of six wines was more of a fabulous meal! Meat, cheeses, olive oil, special bread and then bread with a fabulous sausage concoction on top! The owner,Paola, came and chatted with us. He is very creative and ambitious with his plans for new grapes and new wines for the future. Good to see a small winery doing so well! We are so happy that we included this winery in our itinerary! We purchased some wine to take home to enjoy after our trip!

    True Tuscan Wine Experience
Our experience was absolutely lovely, we truly felt like we were living la dolce vita! Family and friend operated, this winery was an intimate and very well-informing experience that featured some spectacular wines and views to match. You cannot miss the made-in-house olive oil! We couldn’t recommend this wine experience more! Thank you Paolo, Sam, and the staff for this unforgettable time!

Let me start off by saying that we were 40 minutes late for our appointment. GPS lead us very astray! I apologized profusely when we got there and even offered to leave since we were so late. I believe that Samuela, the owner's wife, was the person who greeted us. She started off by saying that we cancelled our appointment. I very nicely said no, we had not cancelled our appointment but that we were very late. She started the tour but was still questioning if we had an appointment. I showed her that we tried to call, but that there was no answer. Once she saw that we did try to reach them to inform them that we were late, she eased up a bit. Once we finished the tour, we sat down for lunch. She then preceded to tell me that we had not paid in advance. I showed her my confirmation email and my husband had to look on line at our bank statement to show them that yes, indeed we had paid. They then said that they were having technical issues with their bank. Once we proved that we had paid, Samuela disappeared and never once offered an apology. While this was all going on, our friends were VERY uncomfortable. They served us lunch which was superb, but by this time, I had lost my appetite. Things happen, but it is how you deal with them that matters. Samuela did not deal with the situation well and she was not only rude, but this was bad business! We stayed a month in Panzano and visited over 20 wineries. All treated us well but this one.

First winery we stopped at while visiting Greve and it was our favorite! Amazing wine and olive oil and the people working and running the place were so fun and very accommodating. Definitely will be ordering some more wine from them as they ship internationally 🙌🏻

We loved visiting this winery! Paolo was so passionate about his work and he shared so much of his knowledge with us. We loved the wine and the olive oil and look forward to receiving our order! I do not recall the name of the lovely woman that actually did the tasting with us, but she was a joy to spend time with and was also very passionate and knowledgable about the wine and the food pairing, all of which were delicious. Beautiful view, beautiful people, and very close to Villa Bordini, we were able to ride bikes there with no problem. I loved spending time with their dogs too! Definitely visit this winery when in Greve!

We absolutely loved this place, which was recommended to us by our hotel, Villa Bordoni. We arrived without much expectation, but were blown away by the hospitality, beauty of the land as well as the delicious wine and food. It was a highlight of our trip for sure and we hope to visit again. We have been on wine-tasting vacations to many countries over the years and this stands out as one of those rare experiences where it all comes together to be something magical. Bonus points for being so wonderful to our six-year old daughter that accompanied us. It was a highlight of the trip for her as well, which is not an easy feat!

Altiero Winery is a must see experience.
TLDR: It's fun, beautiful beyond words and rich in wine, food, scenic views and hospitality. The only flaw is having to leave.

My wife and I were lucky to be staying within a 30 min walk from Altiero. By chance we said we would give it a go based on a recommendation from our accommodation: Villa Bordoni.
We were greeted first by Paolo (the owner) doing some work on the vineyard, and then by Samuela his wife (the boss).
We were given an in-depth tour of their cellar and each of their wines explained. It's also of note this was our third winery visit, and listening to Samuela discuss each detail was still refreshing. It was also the first time I felt like I understood to some small degree what was involved in their process. Before I happily smiled and nodded, but this was fun and engaging and I learned a lot.
Everything was so clean and well maintained, she let us use their facilities while she prepared our lunch on la terrazza.
We would visit again for just the food. Absolutely incredible. All homemade by Samuela with most ingredients coming from their land, including their delicious olive oil.
We tried 5 wines, each paired with beautiful food looking out over the most stunning landscape. Truly postcard perfect. Afterwards we were given an espresso and cantucci.
The hospitality was 5 stars. Paolo spent time talking to us telling funny stories. I can't remember the name of the other lady working there but she was friendly. Samuela was really the top hostess, she walked us through each tasting and told us the story of how the vineyard came to be. Listening to her speak was like reading someone else's dream journal except here it was a reality. It may have been the wine, but I was close to tears. And I genuinely did not want to leave - which was definitely the wine.
Thank you to all in Altiero, we look forward to coming back again in the future.

Altiero Winery is so much more than just a winery. Paolo and Samuela are a wonderful couple. He tends the vineyard and makes the wine while she handles the wine sales and food preparation. Both the wine and the food are top notch. Paolo gives tours of his small family winery and shows how much passion he truly has for what he is doing. Samuela prepares classic Tuscan dishes with fresh ingredients. She even makes her own jams. I wish that they were for sale
too!
Samuela even arranged a truffle hunt for us while we were there. When we returned from the hunt, she made dishes that included the truffles that we found that morning. Truly a one of a kind experience. If you are looking for a personal experience you need to visit this place!
