The Hermitage Museum & Gardens, formerly home to the Sloane family, is an early 20th century Arts-and-Crafts estate located on the shore of the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Virginia. Featuring a nationally recognized art collection spanning 5,000 years, the Hermitage is home to the arts. Contemporary exhibition galleries, a Visual Arts Studio, working artist studios, and 12 acres of gardens and grounds offer art and culture to the community, as envisioned by the Sloanes.

Was it Tudor, Gothic, Jacobean, Victorian, Early American, Asian, German?.... the list goes on. It was silly. Apparently the NY transplant to VA was pompous - saying that it was in her blood/bones to extend her "fine" exhibitions to the world. lol She collected what...More

Beautiful inside and out. I got married in the garden and had my reception inside over thirty years ago. I've been to the Hermitage for many different events from art shows to evening music events with wine and dancing. Love this venue.

I came here specifically to see the Burning Man exhibit. It was great. I loved seeing the artwork from Burning Man. Most of these pieces are outside, and some of them are best seen at night because light is an element in the display. Loved...More

We were here for the Burning Man night exhibit. It was fantastic! The curator did a great job integrating the Burning Man sculptures/art with the setting of the Hermitage. Wonderful experience!

Yes! Parking in the middle of the gardens. For some of their events parking fills quickly but most day visits there is plenty of parking.
