The Hermitage Museum & Gardens, formerly home to the Sloane family, is an early 20th century Arts-and-Crafts estate located on the shore of the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Virginia. Featuring a nationally recognized art collection spanning 5,000 years, the Hermitage is home to the arts. Contemporary exhibition galleries, a Visual Arts Studio, working artist studios, and 12 acres of gardens and grounds offer art and culture to the community, as envisioned by the Sloanes.

The Hermitage is a couple of hours well spend. It tells the tale of a wealthy family in the early 20th century and in particular the wife's collection of art and artifacts from around the world. The home and the grounds are the real attraction.

We were here for a wedding the water view was breathtaking. The gardens were very romantic and cozy for a wedding, I would go back here to visit just to do a tour.

Gardens are free and beyond awesome! Museum entry will cost you. We spent a couple of hours here and did nothing but walk the grounds and take pictures. We are taking our son and his girlfriend back today. Don't miss this freebie!

Plan to arrive early in the day to fully appreciate the grounds and the museum on the Hermitage grounds. The antique collections show eclectic tastes.

A real treasure right here in Norfolk! Visiting this unspoiled landmark allows you to go back in time and see how it was to live in luxury in a previous age. Everything is original or close to it, and it stirs the imagination of how...More

Yes! Parking in the middle of the gardens. For some of their events parking fills quickly but most day visits there is plenty of parking.
