Always a lovely experience at this hidden gem

I have been here many times and really enjoy strolling the lawn or touring the historic home. They also have some great special events periodically.

The house/Museum wasn't open but we wandered around the grounds and saw the Stick sculpture being installed. The collection of millstones used in the gardens and grounds were interesting.

The museum contains the personal art collection of Florence Sloane housed in her former home. She had a variety of interests as evidenced by the unique pieces. Unfortunately there are numerous gaps in signage so visitors aren't always sure what they are viewing. It's still worth a visit. Mrs. Sloane collected old millstones from VA and nearby states. These are... More

I am sad to say that our experience in visiting this museum was very disappointing. There were no tours being run as advertised, there were very few rooms open and really not many items on display. We anticipated a lovely garden, but much of it was overgrown to the point of being lost. The setting was peaceful and there was... More

We walked the entire grounds while enjoying the Art's and crafts . The musical entertainment was very well received. The food trucks were a big hit. The drink sales for the tickets and the drinks were poorly managed with not enough help and needed a line just for water. They ran out of cold water by 11am and mixed drinks.... More

somewhat odd collection of art displayed in a building that locals call historical but I would call it neo-something copied from different English styles. Sorry, but for Europeans this place is more of an oddity than a novelty. I like the way that nature is combined in the outdoor with preservation and an aim to "save the bay"

Attended a wedding here, what a beautiful setting! View of the river and lush landscaping made the perfect setting. I have attended many weddings but none in such a beautiful setting.

Thank xmasteach
