Praia de Machico has both a natural and man made beach plus a marina. Ample parking nearby and usual restaurants and cafes. Very scenic with the hills surrounding the area.

Beach was super clean, and the staff very sympathetic. And the water... 24°C in October. Wow. Not a big place but really nice one. In summer should be very crowded.

Nothing special here, just an artificial beach with toilets and a few restaurants, to be fair the local shops are worth a visit, wouldn't go out of my way to visit unless you want to see golden sand.

So I come from a country where all beaches are sand. In Madeira all the beaches were solid rock and this one is maybe the only sand one and probably artificial one. But don't let that confuse you, the beach is really clean, the umbrellas...More

From local guide Marco I know that this white sand was brought to Machico from Marocco. Unfortunatelly inside the sand were scorpions who were not welcomed on this iland. So what local did ? They have send back scorpions to Maroccoo !!

Great for a day out with the kids. We decided to take a shared taxi for 6 rather than the cheaper bus from Funchal to Machico. Sunbeds were good value at €1.5 as were the parasols also at €1.5 each. There was a floating platform...More

A wonderful sandy beach set a few metres from great cafes and eateries. Sunbeds and umbrellas can a purchased for a very reasonable fee. The cove is very safe for small children and offers older children a great pontoon for diving from in deeper waters....More

Yes. It’s a yellow sand beach in Madiera - perfectly pleasant for an afternoon in the sun. A breakwater gives a lot of shelter from the waves and the incline into the depths is very gentle so pretty safe for families. Machico has a pretty...More

Madeira has a couple of artificial sandy beaches. Machico sand is cleaner, the facilities are better and the general location is better for food drink and location than Calheta. Tried both this year in a relatively cool May. The sea may have felt slightly warmer...More

Hi, you will probably find taxis as you get off the ships gangway (as we did!). There are dozens of taxis as you leave the harbour and the trip takes around 25 mins but sorry, can't remember the cost. Hope that helps.
