This complex is definitely my favorite spot in Suzdal. From outside, its high and thick walls make it look forbidding, more a fortress than a monastery. But once inside, the atmosphere is very serene and welcoming. The churches there might not be the prettiest in Russia (you can go to Sergiyev Posad for that), still the architecture is impressive and... More

This monastery is truly an experience! The main prayer area is adorned with hand painted stories from the Bible. The walk around the area is beautiful and the museum is very interesting!

It's astonishing. Beautiful architeture and still have a conection of Russian naif paintings. It really worth a visit. After it walk out of the walls and get nice views from Suzdal.

This place is definitely worth visiting when in Suzdal, it is a nice reminder that monasteries were so much more than just religious centers in the middle ages; hospitals, libraries, jails etc as well as a place for people to seek shelter when the Tartars/Mongols raided the place. There are some very interesting exhibits in the complex, even if very... More

This is a World Heritage Site. The complex contained a cathedral, refectory church, campanile, church with a hospital block, dormitory, and a jail. The Prince of Suzdal founded the monastery in 1352. The complex's pink wall had 12 distinctive towers; the first at the front is the largest and served as “entrance” for the complex. The gigantic cathedral had 7... More

The Monastery is beautiful, cozy and interesting place. Wonderful churches, bell tower and interesting museums inside. I liked the jail best of all. It is really interesting place to go, I'm not joking.
