Most perfect beach I’ve ever being on. Water not clear until it gets a little deeper out but warm and perfectly formed beach. Tonnes of restaurants and supermarket in area with a new crepe/ice cream shop. Did stand up paddle boarding and kayaking also available. Lovely beach bar on beach doing drinks and food. Will be returning next year

I spent a week in a nearby villa and visited this beach on a number of days to use the beach and also the restaurants nearby. There is a very good supermarket and off licence there too. The hire of sun beds is very expensive so we wouldn’t bother again but would just buy a beach umbrella or a wind break. The water is shallow and the sand soft.

As a family of 4 with a 16 yr old and 11 yr old we spent a week here in an apartment. Having stayed 2 years ago in Calella de Pallafrugell we were constantly comparing the 2. Calella came out on top in every way except for the slope of the beach. Montgo has a gradual slope which is safe for kids. Do watch out for rocks under the surface as a toe can easily be stubbed and broken or cut.The water gets muddy as the day goes on due to the numbers of people churning up sand. Prices in local restaurants and bars are at tourist level we reckon at least 20% higher than Calella de P. Not a great place for teenagers alghough there are plenty of them. Nightlife limited so went to L'Escala a few times(tourist train €2 each every hour)

Hard to explain why, but as soon as I arrived, I wanted to leave. The built up area to the left of the beach spoils the whole thing. There are a few restaurants, and a hotel where we spent one night despite having booked five. Enough said.

Lovely sandy beach with rocks to the side of the beach. Beautiful views, watersports available if you want them. Quieter than the main beach in L'escala. Great selection of restaurants too.

This place is a little gem few km from L’Escala on Costa Brava (Girona province)
It’s has the most impressive views of upmarket Vila’s on the rocks of Costa Brava , yachts and small boats moored in the bay .
Is listed as one of the best beaches in Costa Brava which probably was the case before it had became a free port for all the inflatable boats from the yachts and other small boats spending the day on the beach . The beach itself is small but has the most amazing fine sands which is very well maintained and clean daily in high season . It has Chiringito which is the Spanish small beach bar (the usual wooden relaxed beach stile topical in every beach ) They are also lots of water sports on the beach (for children too).
The rest around are beach restaurants and bars , chill out atmospheres and good Mediterranean cuisine selection with few local menus for this area (the usual for lunch i. most places or dinner for some €15-18 menu including 1 drink per person) Because it had became upmarket place the prices are few euros more than in other small bays like this . Meal for 4 usually comes to €70 -90 with a bottle and cocktails are around €8-10 almost everywhere.
Overall it’s fantastic place for 2-3 days to relax on the beach ( if you don’t mind the many boats and crowds of families in weekends) You can enjoy the day visits to staring at 10:30 am breakfast , lunch 14-15:00 pm and diner 21-23 pm and cocktails all day in Spanish terms .
We visited for 3 days of first week of July with friends on their yacht and moored in the bay which is practically the best way to enjoy travelling around Costa Brava if you want to see the beautiful cliffs and bays :)

We loved cala montgo, the right combination of beautiful cove, lovely sand, shallow water and plenty of cafes and bars without it being too overrun. There's pedalos and sunbed hire, but its all quite low key. Lovely for all ages! And theres parking not far.

Stayed in an apartment near the beach the first week of September. Still quite busy after peak season and beautiful weather.
Mainly seemed to be French tourists and French can be heated in all the restaurants and shops.
Especially loved the quieter atmosphere than L’Escala however without the choices of dining.
Lovely beach which is best enjoyed in the morning before it gets busier.
The little train between here and L’Escala is delightful but note the timetable changed 1st sept and the last train is 8pm.
Found people to be laid back and friendly.

This place is just stunning! Perfect place to chill out for the day with friends & family. In it very own lovely little bay with a sandy beach, beach bars, watersports and a couple of places to grab some food. Cant wait to go back!

Coming to the Cala Montgó after a long walk from L’Escala or Estartit is just heaven ! BTW, that’s where to coffee or a cocktail is at its best: Blue Heaven ! It’s a very beautiful bay enclosed in rocky wooden hills. A shame though that there’s no walking along the bay.
