When we visited,it was practically a ghost town... It's kind of a summer retreat for owners..As we visited in November, Handful of cafes were open..The village is very beautiful and has to be explored by foot...
This is a beautifully restored medieval village and is well worth visiting if you are in the area.
Cars, are not allowed into the old village and you have to park down below and walk up to the old centre. The car parking is well...More
Definitely worth exploring if you're in the area. Pals has been restored and gives you a glimpse of how the village was and how it's now integrated into the modern era.

We recently hired a car whilst holidaying in Tossa and made our way here, and what a place, absolutely gorgeous.
Lots of tiny streets, all with great character and shops !
The shops aren't the usual type, all quite different, select and well presented.
I visited Pals with some friends while our stay at Costa Brava. It takes only a couple of hours to explore the village, but there are lots of pretty coffee places, restaurants and shops that can extend that visit to half a day or longer....More
Having visited many medieval villages in Europe, this one was especially charming. There are several cafes in the village and several small shops, we found the prices surprisingly low. Just ensure: don't wear any high heels, unless you want to get stuck between the cobble...More
It is beautiful. It's worth spending a little time here. We were not able to see the Jewish museum-check the hours.

If you want it to be quieter arrive early or late / avoid weekends. No need for a guide. There is some useful TI info available about the region. It's a good idea to visit the other villages in the area too eg Sa Tuna, Begur... More
