I find that different ancient sites resonate more with me than others. I have always had a particular fondness for this particular amphitheatre. I know it has as bloody a history as any other, but I find it intimate and somehow friendly every time I...More

We live in Idaho where there are only a few structures that have survived since the late 1800s. So it is hard for me to wrap my head around standing in and touching a structure that was built probably before Jesus was alive. It was...More

We knew beforehand the there were Roman ruins in Martigny, but did not expect to see such a nicely restored amphitheater as well other items of interest.

The amphitheatre is very impressive! A nice pond at the side for kids to play with. Very nice all together.

The remains are a reminder of the importance of Octodurum (Martigny) in Roman times but are not very evocative.

There are a few Roman remains in Martigny all well preserved including part of the old bath house but the amphitheatre has been partially restored and is used as an outdoor entertainment venue. Restoration has been sympathetic and worth a visit. Entry free.

This to me was the most impressive of the Roman ruins in Martigny, of which they are several. This is still used for special activities, but I was about two weeks too late to see the famous "cow fights."

The place was so calm but nothing super interesting... Just sitting there watching the view is very helpful!

the atmosphere was lost here as there are quite a lot of modern seating platforms around The amphitheatre was much smaller that I thought it would be and much more could be done with this venue to restore the historic feel
