A truly delightful experience with beautiful scenery and wonderful mountain vistas renown for being one of the best railway journeys in the Alps beginning in the small Swiss town of Martigny and terminating in Chamonix.
We left Martigny to first climb above the Rhone Valley (it's a cog railway), offering a fantastic view, followed by beautiful mountain landscape, to first arrive to our first stop, where we spent the night. The day after was even more beautiful, between Les Marecottes...More
***I took the Mont Blanc Express from Martigny to Chamonix, France. At the Martigny Train Station, the MBE will show up on a separate track #40 or 41 just for MBE. Steep climbs at times. You may want to have your camera ready for the...More
A great train trip from Chamonix, France to Martigny, Switzerland in 1.5hrs. Very scenic trip with a super steep descent into Switzerland with the help of rack and pinion. The whole trip can be done within 4 hrs unless a stay in Martigny is envisaged....More

A place not to miss is for sure Gruyères. An historical village with a burgund castle, close to the Moléson moutain. A small mountain with summer attractions for children. You can also find there typical chalet restaurants by the moutain called "buvette d'alpage" : cows, tourists and trekkers meet there on nice terrassses. Prices are reasonnable.
A very charming city is Luzern. Take on day and one night to walk around. There is a fantastic transport museum, also attractiv for children.
On the way between Gruyères and Luzern, you can stop at Interlaken. The travel by car is amazing. From Interlaken, (or Grindenwald) you can take trains to the Jungfrau Joch, a 10000ft high mountain above the Aletsch glacier. Typically swiss, but quite expensive trip. Up there is an ice sculpture museum, inside the glacier.
Enjoy your holidays !
