Dear Keith, thank you for your comments and visiting. I am constantly surprised by the variation in reviews. There are 64 different gardens and most people seem to enjoy what is looking good as , in any garden, there are always areas which are next...More

This really is such a beautiful place to visit. We happened to have gone on what has been the hottest day of the year so far, we wanted to do something but keep it local. So I randomly suggested this, not ever hearing of it...More

A small example of a failing (and the small failings, bar noise, are the cumulative problem) is a problem with the "you are here" noticeboards. The site is difficult to navigate round and the tiny map you are given on entry is miniscule, so these...More

Lovely gardens to walk around and admire all the hard work done at this great place. Go in September when the Classic Car Show's on for a lovely afternoon as well.

Hi Paul, I am the principal at Capel Manor college and we were very concerned with and upset about your comments posted on trip advisor. As you can see we generally attract very good comments and your comments are quite at variance with others visiting at the same time. I am not sure if you realise that we are a charity and we rely on income from visitors to help us offer education and training to over 2,000 students. as I am sure you are aware any garden is a living thing and as such has moods and periods when it is being prepared or revitalised. As it happens I am puzzled by some of your comments. For exam[le there is no record of the Japanese garden being closed since its refurbishment was completed several weeks ago so I would be interested in when you visited and why you thought it was closed (the senior gardener on duty on Sunday 5th and other staff are quite clear that the Japanese garden was open on that day. There is a programme for dead heading roses where appropriate and we are following this. Also some ramblers climbers and rugosa's are deliberately left as they produce hips which are ornamental in the autumn. A lot of he gardens are sponsored and also won medals at Chelsea. Your comment re clashing colours is subjective and personal and one of the things we pride ourselves on is our diversity and the fact that everyone seems to find something they like when they visit. We are also surprised about your comment that the gardens are repetitive as this is the exact opposite to the normal comments. Also we have just experienced a heat wave and that has put strain on the gardens. We would like to thank you for taking the time to comment and would be happy to meet you sometime to explain more about what we are doing and what we hope to achieve. best wishes Steve Dowbiggin Principal
