Rochdale's fabulous Grade-I Victorian Gothic town hall is renowned worldwide for its unique and detailed architecture. The building was opened on 27th September 1871 by George Leach Ashworth, then Mayor of Rochdale at a cost of around £150,000. Full tours take place on the first Monday of each month at 2.15pm and last about 2 hours. Short tours take place every Wednesday at 2.15pm and lasts 1 hour.

We had a very interesting tour of the town hall including the council chamber, mayoral lounge, etc. Afterwards we had a delightful lunch in the restaurant.

This building makes a serious statement - it is very impressive. The Victorians really knew how to design and construct fantastic buildings on a grand scale. take a moment to focus on the stone work, its really impressive.

You can see what this was earmarked by the third Reich as a regional town hall. A really interesting and educational tour.

Came here for my bosses wedding and i have to say the building itself is stunning. The room was decorated beautifully and the food was very tasty.
