About
As a long time fisherman and licenced tour boat operator, Capt. Dave is well equipped to give you an unforgettable experience on the water. Whether to experience the majestic icebergs as they make their way south; catch a cod ; help Capt. Dave haul his lobster pots, or see the giant humpbacks breach as they feed on schools of caplin, Capt. Dave has the knowledge and experience to make your trip an adventure to treasure for years to come. As a certified tour boat captain, David specializes in small group, personalized tours to view the magnificent icebergs that often frequent the main tickle just off from his fishing interpretation centre, Prime Berth. In addition to iceberg tours, David will take you to explore the rugged coastline of Main Tickle, and view the thousands of nesting birds on the Baccy Islands, on your way to Gut Tickle and through the Salt Hr. Canal to the picturesque fishing village of Herring Neck. Your view of the fishing stages from the water will be a highlight of your Newfoundland & Twillingate vacation. In addition David can take you to the little fishing village of Tizzard's Harbour, his hometown, where he has set his lobster trap since the age of six. From May to October you could also fish for cod during your tour!!!

We had the most wonderful afternoon with Captain Dave. Dave is so friendly and very knowledgeable about fishing. He showed us an incredible view of a very large pod of dolphins feeding in the bay. Then he showed us a school of tuna feeding near the surface. We saw eagles and Egret nests along with these beautiful birds. Dave showed us where he fishes for lobster and cod. He even showed us how cod jiggin is done! He caught a nice cod and then released the fish back into the sea. We can’t say enough about Captain Dave and his tour. We highly recommend taking this tour. It was an adventure we will never forget! Thank you Captain Dave for a most memorable experience!

Did not go on a boat tour, but enjoyed the museum-like property and diverse gift shop. That Captain Dave never threw anything away and we should be happy for it now. It is also a photographer's paradise with all the vibrantly colored buildings.

Capt Dave gives a top notch experience! He can read and sense the water as well as the whales. It seemed like he took his time, waited for the whales to show themselves. Allowed time for everyone to take pictures. He even took pictures of everyone with an iceberg in thr background. Highly recommend his tour.

I can safely cross off two items of my bucket list, seeing a whale and seeing an actual iceberg. Captain Dave was very pleasant and patient, he did not rush us at all. He knew where to look for the whales and gave us ample time to watch those magnificent creatures. All in all it was an experience of a lifetime.

Cap’n Dave is the real deal! For an authentic iceberg experience he is your guy for sure. Small boat experience with big personality. Cap’n Dave is full of stories, jokes and tales and his museum is filled with history and gift shop well appointed.

So fun! Saw some huge icebergs on this 1.5 hour boat tour. Capt Dave said he’s never seen so many icebergs in his 70 years on the water! He grew up on the area and had lots of great stories to share. Our daughter caught a cod fish (and it was delicious)! No whales though. Next time! Highly recommend.

My wife and I booked a private tour with Capt. Dave for our 40th Anniversary and it turned out to be the experience of a lifetime, being awed by the scenery and beauty beyond all expectations.
The legendary Captain did not disappoint, expertly guiding his boat through a rocky tickle and bringing us to a field of huge icebergs, where we fished out an anniversary pure-ice diamond out of a sea of floating iceberg pieces.
The Captain and his family, shared with us stories and momentos of their life by the sea in beautiful Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Thank you so much again for this extraordinary adventure...

Captain Dave is the best! Great tour on his 12 seater, with Captain Dave showing us all his favourite places and bergs. Not to mention jigging for cod and pulling up lobster trap with live lobsters! We got to come up along side the bergs and feel 10,000 yr old ice bergs.
The tour was to be one hour, but Captain Dave can get carried away with showing all the sites, which we of coarse didn’t mind one bit!
The museum was a wonderful treat as well with many great pictures and history of family business since early 1900’s.
Highly recommend this tour!

Would definitely recommend Captain Dave! I wanted to go with a smaller boat and this was perfect - there were 12 of us so we could ask questions and talk with Dave at any time. We got to see a lot of icebergs up close.

Excellent tour. We got incredibly close to some amazing icebergs! Dave was concerned that everyone was dressed appropriately before we started out and checked on everyone to make sure no one was turning green. It was an experience of a lifetime!
