We signed up for this hike expecting an in and out experience - that was definitely not the case! Our guides Garry and Mike were incredibly knowledgeable and frequently stopped to drop all kinds of fun facts and stories throughout the day. Although the sign-up through Bon Tours says to expect a 6-8hr day, the day took us almost 12 hours start to finish... because of all the knowledge (water/breathing) breaks they gave to ensure the group could stay together. We had an extra "delay" when we saw a moose on our way back to the boat, which only further displayed how the guides wanted to ensure our party had a good experience over rushing to get home. We had a variety of fitness and experience levels and the guides were able to cater to and ensure everyone got through the day safely. Was a great experience I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow! What a challenging and rewarding experience. So many people come to Newfoundland to see whales and icebergs. We saw neither and had one of the best trips of our lives and this hike was one of the best parts of our trip. Garry was such a great guide - so informative about geology, ecology, weather, history…. He lead us on a unique journey through rich forests, gorgeous meadows, over avalanche falls, through caves, over brooks. This was the most technically difficult hike of our lives but Garry kept the pace appropriate and never stopped giving us so much information. The boat ride through the fiord was stunning and we will never forget the 7 hours we spent in the valley.

Amazing experience hiking up Western Brook pond trail with guide Garry- the views, the education, the fun, the foraging, the challenge, the cold but refreshing swim in the pond at the end….

I just have to say this was a great place to stay. When we 1st arrived it did not have that manicured look of the property but before yiu could park out comes Jean welcoming you in. She was the most accommodating person. Nothing was a bother Breakfasts were awesome. Wish I had taken pictures
100% would stay here again. Thank you Jean for all your Xtra help . We loved our stay

We were 10 clients, 2 guides (Nate and Gary). Both were very well equipped for any eventuality, super knowledgeable about the uniqueness of the gorge's rocks, flora and fauna! Our guides were awesome, particularly with navigating the rugged trail and in assisting with the challenging sections of the trail. In the end all 10 clients returned home with no serious injuries and a super memorable experience. Thanks to ya boys!

Yesterday's hike was a challenging effort that resulted in the iconic Western Brook Pond vista. Nate, our guide, was not responsible for the perfect view but he was responsible for a truly unique experience. His easy confident manner put 4 hikers at ease and ensured a safe experience. Nate also added much by elaborating on the natural history of Gros Morne- history, geology, botany and zoology. And the freezies were a nice touch!!

We did the Western Brook Pond day hike with Nate and Ben from Out east Adventures and it was truly an exceptional experience. They prepared us well for what was definitely a challenging day but we always felt in such good hands with these experienced guides. Throughout the day they shared their knowledge of plants and rocks and weather and life! And the view from the top was unbelievable. Such majestic beauty one can only dream of experiencing. Thank you Nate and Ben for offering us your expertise and support through the day.

Long Range: A must-see/must-do excursion if you are physically fit and love discovering a stunning, remote part of Canada. Colin was our guide par excellence, taking great care of everything, including graciously helping me out after I took a spill. He also led us to a beach site for camp night #2. Spectacular. We found each of the four days a good challenge and a great adventure, a great Out East Adventure. Ha! The food was delish too. One of our highlights was waking up on day 2 to a bright, sunny morning after hiking in the pouring rain the day before. There we were on the famous outcrop looking back at Western Brook Pond. Quite mind-blowing indeed! Hiking the Long Range in this part of the planet is unique and Out East Adventures guides you with style, skill... and a smile. We have recommended them to many friends. Thank you so kindly to the OEA team for making this one of our favourite outback hiking experiences ever.

We are a not-twenty-something couple who love hiking but never go in a group. We were initially reluctant because of this and because it seemed like an expensive day. We were so wrong. Brad and Nate were excellent guides and the other twenty-somethings who hiked with us were charming. Brad explained all the highlights of the area and Nate kept us from any calamity while walking by helpfully pointing out any tricky spots on the route. Although they have done this hike so many times they act like you are the most interesting group they have ever had, they keep it all fresh and new for a whopping 10-11 hour day! There was a photo shoot included — we must have missed that if it was mentioned in the brochure!

Great atmosphere, first time at a hostel and the staff was amazing. They answered all my questions. Everything you needed was there or staff were able to direct you were to find it. The western brook pond tour was amazing and our guide Brad make a challenging hike a breeze with stops and knowledge of the area.
Very clean facility and would recommend any one looking to go to the area to stay there.
