Founded in 1976, the first museum to honor 4th President James Madison. The Museum houses a wealth of artifacts in its nearly 13,000 square feet of exhibit space that bring to life the rich history of Orange, Virginia. A nice assortment of Madison's belongings along with a large and diverse collection ranging from art and textiles to farm tools and a 1923 Model T. We even have a 1732 Patent House. Only 4 miles from our friends at James Madison's Montpelier, located in the historic town of Orange. Handicap friendly and plenty of parking around the building.

A visually and historically rich visit into the world of James Madison and rural Virginia life. One of our most pleasant discoveries while visiting the town of Orange. No visit to Montpelier should fail to include it. And the staff was magnificently helpful and friendly.

Tripadvisor needs to do something about the content on this listing. It is easy to pass right by this museum - but that would be a serious mistake. This museum is living proof that great things come in 'small packages' although I don't think that...More

Documents and actual items of common use by the author of the US Constitution. It's an amazing museum. Don't pass by without stopping in. Good for school aged children. .. So much more interesting than a history book.
