A world search, which also included France, Germany, North and South America as well as Australia for the ideal area with perfect conditions for viticulture, especially for Pinot Noir, brought Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, graduates of the German Viticulture and Oenology University in Geisenheim to the Wairarapa, New Zealand. Schubert vineyards are closely planted and the unique climate produces low yields and internationally award winning wines with intense and complex character; predominantly exported to currently 25 countries.

Wow, what a difference 400m makes! We stopped first at Cambridge Road and were underwhelmed (and over charged). This place was outstanding. Vanessa was chatty, knowledgable and warm and the wines were exceptional. The two blends were something totally different and we will be stopping...More

This German inspired winery is worth a visit. You get to taste 5 wines for $5. The $5 is deducted from the price of any wine you buy. The tastings are in the most beautiful Austrian wine glasses which they also sell for about $30...More

Visited here to focus on the reds as their Pinot Noir has an enormous reputation which is well deserved. They sell out of the legendary Block B that I had to go on a waiting list for the next vintage. Attentive knowledgeable service with a...More

Our least favourite winery of the holiday. Very quick tasting. No personality from the host. Didn't want to engage in much conversion. The smallest pours we have ever had.
