Better vineyards for tasting

We took a french couple here hearing that they produced great wines and that the vineyard practised organic and permaculture methods. We walked inside to be greeted by the rancid smell of cat faeces. The first face we saw was a Chinese lady who looked at us and walked outside to get her husband. No greeting, no acknowledgement. The host... More

Many Martinborough vineyards charge around $5 for their wine-tasting - either refundable upon purchase, or not. That seems quite fair. Vynfields wanted to charge $18 per person to taste their 5 wines and we weren't at all convinced we were going to get a coherent, knowledgeable explanation of the wines or winery. We gave it a miss. To be fair,... More

Although the vineyard setting is beautiful and you have a choice of different ways to taste their wine there's a lack of love shown towards it. We chose the five large glasses to share between three of us and that was enough. The wine were placed in a different order then most vineyards i.e. White, red, white, red and bubbly... More

What a great place! The historic building looks absolutely amazing and the view from the garden is great. Best place to enjoy some wine, best way is the selection of the five best organic wines they offer. We also had bread and olives to share. Altough the wine was not exactly what we like, this vineyard is worth a visit.

I think Vynfields have had a couple of unfair reviews lately. Firstly most vineyards are charging tastings around Martinborough so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Vynfields are also charging for their tastings too. However, they do give a range of prices for their tastings as you can choose to have a full, 1/2 or 1/4 size glass tastings... More

there is a big bit of steel in their driveway, put hole in our oil sump. When l phoned & told them what had happened all they were concerned about was if we were in the way. When l asked if they could help us sort something out they just hang up, they didn't even bother to come & see... More

Used to be a great place to visit for tastings and hospitality, what has gone wrong guys ?. Haven't you heard of no charge for tasting if you spend over &$200 on wine. This place is dead in the water compared to the rest of the vineyards in Martinbourgh. We know and love wine, will we be back not a... More

We enjoyed our 5 organic wines in the tasting-the sparkling Riesling & classic Rieslings, being complex but relatively dry, suited us best. Came with tasting notes too. We had 2 'small' platters between the 2 of us-a cheese one which also came with fresh figs, 2 types of nuts, quince paste & relish and a wild mushroom French terrine one... More

Beautiful setting. Sat nibbling platters and drinking a crisp bubbles late afternoon in relaxing surrounds, table outside in the sun. Attentive service. We're used to various vineyard dogs coming out to welcome us, but in this case we got a cat bounding out and keeping us company!

Beautiful spot. Enjoyed the wine and friendly man who served us. The wine was well priced. The cheese platter was expensive for what you got ( we got the large). It was tasty and filling but could have been more gourmet as advertised.
