We stopped in Roanoke for a day and looked for something to do outdoors with the kids. Read mountain reserve was recommended. Parking is limited in the lot, so car pool if coming with others. There is no building or water source. So pack waters....More

This is a nice hike to the other side of the mountain where if lucky you will see several buzzards roosting. Trail in spots needs some help.

Worth the views from this vantage point. Clear days are best, but nice no matter the weather. Not super-high elevation, but nice.

A relatively easy mountain climb but very enjoyable. Maps are provided at the bottom of the mountain. One problem it's not easy to find.

Overcast and cool, but a great hike! Traveled two trails, combined, and it took about 3 hours! FUN! There was a great map available at the parking area. Directions to the site, were spot on! Well maintained trail and parking area!

Long, narrow, winding, steep road to get to top. Made me very nervous to be on. Once at top, however, views were lovely. Glad I went. Trip down was steep and winding, but tolerable.

Thought we were going for an easier hike than what we ended up with but it was a good workout nonetheless.
