I grew up watching the reruns with my family. At the end of the day you aren't actually seeing it as it is on the show, other then the movie set, but you can appreciate the similarities when taking in the whole experience. There is some bad blood between the museum and the owner of the store on the corner.... More

Interesting look at the show and how it was brought to life, its a bit pricey but once you see how far out you need to get there you not going to complain about the price. The store doubles as a gift shop.

My wife and I used to live in Esmont, just a few miles from Schuyler, Virginia. They had turned the old High School into the Walton Mountain Museum. We wnet there several times over several years. The last time was in the Spring of 2013 with out German exchange student Laura. Schuyler is a small old time Virginia town with... More

I really enjoyed visiting the museum and the author's childhood home. I learned a lot about the true town that was represented by the Walton's story.

We deviated off our route by quite a way but are glad we did. I grew up watching The Waltons, my husband not so much, but he enjoyed it too for its historic interest. Two ladies at the front desk were very welcoming and courteous (as we found all Virginians to be). Seeing the kitchen and John Boys bedroom was... More

I did not watch too many episodes of the Walton's, but I did enjoy the shows. It was nice that the museum was hours from me so I went to see it. I was amazed at the layout of the museum and how it depicted each room, and they really go in depth about the show. A few downsides: the... More

The museum is located inside what once was an elementary school. Different rooms depict TV sets including the kitchen, John Boy's room, the country store, and the Baldwin sisters' parlor. Visitors get to see a video on the success of the TV show and hear from cast members on what it was like to portray Earl Hamner's creation. Sadly this... More

It is a charming museum that takes you back in time. If you grew up watching the Waltons you will love it. You leave there feeling good. We stayed at The Orchard Bed & Breakfast house (which I highly recommend) about 15 minutes away on a weekend getaway with another couple and the museum was one of our stops. We... More

If you grew up watching the Walton's as I did then this is a must see! They had John Boy's bedroom, the living room, kitchen, Ike's General Store where you can mail yourself a postcard or anyone a postcard & it will be stamped Walton's Mountain, VA. I loved every minute of this visit!!
