Interesting building and area.

This is located in a 'historical' district, but some no so historical as well. Still, its an interesting building with an interesting history.

We came to find this beauty of a place by chance. I read so much about it I had to see it for myself.

Many of the VA campaign battlefields are at risk of being bulldozed as development encroaches. Spotsylvania still has a decent amount of protected acreage. The earthworks are not as well restored as we were led to believe but the park is in good shape. Spend some time exploring, but the town will keep growing.

Had an awesome tour of the town and battlefield with John Cummings. My boys and I had chills listening to John's stories and explanations of this important battle and particularly the Union-Confederate fight at the Bloody Angle. Highly recommmend.

the courthouse itself does not offer much and the once quaint little town is quickly becoming suburbia and it is so sad to see it die such a death

We stopped here by chance because we got off RT95 to go to the Spotsylvania County Tourist Center to get a map of Virginia after seeing the sign on RT95 for it. The people there were wonderful and I would recommend going there for any information about that area. There are 4 battlefields in the area but we decided on... More

We were fortunate to have hired a historian, John Cummings from the area I found John under the Fredericksburg Tourist website. We spent 2 hours on tour with John. What a wonderful informational 2 hours that was. We toured the Court House Area first and were given information and shown sketches made during the Civil War time in the Court... More

Visit Spotsylvania Courthouse and relive the Battle that took place there in May of 1864. Use your imagination and see the carriages riding to and fro as well as visit the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetary. B&Bs located very nearby as well.

If you are a civil war buff, then this is a good place to renew your history lessons. I went to this because a friend wanted to go. Otherwise, I'd call this a special interest place.
