This is a huge and hilly community park, formerly at the edge of Staunton, where Gypsies camped in their wagons in the late 1800's - 1920's.....hence: "Gypsy Hill." Nowadays, it offers picnic areas, age-appropriate playgrounds, a large pond with geese and ducks year round (yes you can feed them; duck food is available at dispensers); meeting and resting areas; a... Gypsy Hill Park is a little jewel right in the center of Staunton. It's so easy to access and mostly free! Enjoy golf, tennis, feeding the ducks, walking the easy paved perimeter, playing in either the big kids' and little kids' playgrounds, riding the miniature train, swimming in the pool, eating a picnic, baseball, and if you are lucky catching... My mom had a stroke about 2 years ago but the one thing I can get her to enjoy is to go see the ducks at Gypsy Hill Park. It's such a nice peaceful place to go... it's usually not crowded and there are small 25 cent duck food machines which bring the birds paddling toward you. There are many... More

Great for a run or bring the kids to the duck pond. We were there in winter and it was still a nice walk but I think would most be worth a visit Spring and Summer for the outdoor concerts.

We were on limited time but because Staunton surprised us with its prettiness we grabbed the local map and tried to follow the tram route - which takes you past Gypsy Hill Park. We took the time for a drive through. Alas no time for a hike, but there were lost of people out exercising. A large eArea of parks... More

We had our church weekend at The Gypsy Hill and were looked after wonderfully. The food was lovely and the service excellent - Sue was our hostess and could not have been more helpful. A great weekend.

This is not walking distance from the historic sites in down town Staunton, but it is very worth the short drive to get to the park. There was a wonderful large pond with lots of ducks and four swans. You could walk completely around the pond and purchase food to throw to the ducks. I wish there was a quaint... More

This park is so nice & clean. Very opened, you don't feel like you're sitting on top of others. Plenty of activities to do,train ride, swimming, ponds & much more. Plenty of shade & open areas if you want the sun.

Our family has been having gatherings here for years. It's a large park, with play areas, swimming, the train ride, barbecue areas, picnic areas. There is a large shelter available for rent that has a gathering room for dining, watching slide show, or whatever. The shelter has a wraparound porch, kitchen with stove and refrigerator, restrooms, air conditioning. It's available... More
