There was a botanical exhibit, with old pages of plants details from shortly after the printing press was invented, forward. It followed the major botanical artists and their work and contributions and was beautiful. Juxtaposition to this was Kaye Sweeney Lipscomb's work inspired by her trip to Japan. In general, I am not an abstract art lover but these pieces,... More

Have been to a number of gallery "openings" (even bought a painting), as well as attending a drawing class upstairs. Although on-street parking can be tight, there is a garage across the street. The staff are helpful and instructors, curators, and the public friendly and animated. Openings are good for wine and nosh and for the artist's talk, and the... More

We took a quick walk through the first floor of this facility. The second floor was not accessible due to a conference. There was a nice display of photographs by a local photographer and some nice wooden pieces of art on display.

The center always has wonderful items for sale. However, what I enjoy are the display they put on. Currently their is a display of 17th and 18th century maps with descriptions that is worth while for anyone who likes history or antiques.

Small, but interesting gallery. Housed in a beautiful old hotel. Free admission. Gift shop was closed when we toured.

A real jewel of a resource right in the heart of Staunton's historic downtown. If you love art and/or history, there is always something awaiting you at the Smith Center. Parking just feet away.

The RR Smith Center Center has a variety of purposes, but the most visible is the exhibition space. Usually the Staunton-Augusta Arts Center has a monthly exhibit in the larger space, and those exhibits are very good! Most of the artists come from within a hundred-mile radius, but not all. The quality of art and diversity of media is good.... More
