Free and educational. Mature plants were well-selected to perform in Hampton Roads' humid, wet climate. Could improve in new plant selection and care as well as more accurate plant identification. Declaration - I am a Virginia Beach Master Gardener so I have studied here and also volunteered here. It's a shame more people don't know about this research station. It is open to the public every day, doesn't cost a thing. There are so many gardens to look at and learn from - native, herb, perennial, rain, children's, etc. There... More

What a great event to support local farms and businesses for the fourth year. The Research center is a hidden gem in Virginia Beach. It provides an opportunity for students to further their education locally while providing great services such as soil testing. Lend your support to a great institution.

I love to wander around small themed gardens at my own pace and here there are many including: native plants, white garden, seaside garden, composting heaven, children's garden and one for people with disabilities, which has fabulous raised beds. You can also learn tips and tricks as you go as each themed garden has a mailbox with a fact sheet... More
