Great location to photograph both Cape Henry Lighthouses together. Several historical markers telling the English 1st Landing story of 1607. It is on a military base, so have your ID ready as you approach the gates.

My husband and I tried to make it to all of the lighthouses in the area. Here you get to see the old one and the new one. You can climb to the top of the old one. Very cool!

Well worth the stop. Make sure you have all your legal documents and expect them to search your car. They are very serous about security, so expect a 10-15 minute delay. The beaches are lovely and there is usually nobody on the beach. Great place...More

When you go to Ft Story, be prepared for a car search, but so worth it! Time allotment was 3 hrs, more than enough to see the lighthouses, and historical attractions

Be sure to have your current paperwork and picture ID. This is an active base with lots of activity. The lighthouses are easily reached and while we would have loved to travel up the 192 steps (bad knees).. asked to go closer but they wanted...More

An ID is required to visit. All visitors must go through a military security checkpoint. A military ID is required for the beach and most other points. This is a great place to visit. We come every year and highly recommend it.
