The Thoroughgood House is a true national treasure and the new Education Center made our repeat visit well worth while. The tour of the Education Center begins with a very interesting film that provides an excellent description of the arrival of the English in the...More

They have a visitor center that is pretty new and very nice. It cost me $8.00 for the tour. I took the 30-minute tours and it was nice. I would not plan on any more than an hour from door to door.

A piece of Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia Beach, VA. Well not exactly, but you will get that same feel. The Adam Thoroughgood House is one of the oldest, if not the oldest structures in Princess Anne Co. A more accurate dating of its age pins...More

The Thoroughgood House is a wonderful historic home with gardens, a river view, and period furnishings. The Thoroughgoods were one of the foremost settlers in the area.

We have had many great dinners and some great wine at Thoroughgood House. It is one of our favorites!

While the house was listed as closed, we decided to at least drive there and see the grounds. There was a lot of construction going on the Thoroughgood Hose sign was blocked off. Maybe in the future?

A piece of local history that is regularly part of field and day trips for the locals. Great for families with lots of history to learn about. It is well preserved and much of the year the gardens make a wonderful walk.

This with a few other historical houses in Virginia Beach were closed and fenced off as apparently they are no longer operating , very frustrating trying to find any of these listed houses open to the public, I'd rate it zero!More

Two of Virginia Beach's HIstory Museums are currently closed. The Thorogoughgood House is closed while a new Visitor Center is being built, which is expected to be open spring 2017. The Lynnhaven House will be closed until late June for a moisture mitigation project. I...More
