Overview
More
Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

Wonderful visit. We always enjoy tours that are Ranger led. They provide accuracy that is sometimes not given at other places. This is a National Park, so the guides and Rangers are well informed. We took in 3 guided tours and they were all wonderful...More

The historic triangle (Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown Victory Center) are all worth a visit, more than once. Jamestown is a wonderful park all ages will enjoy.

We learned a lot about the settlement here from a ranger tour. The guide explained the excavations to everyone and was very knowledgeable about the site. He answered all our questions and had suggestions about what to look for elsewhere on the site. The air...More

The recommendation was to allow 1/2 day for this site, but we could have easily spent all day here. It was beautiful and there were so helpful guides to explain everything going on from the church excavation to the Junior Ed Shed.

Nice grounds for a stroll. Good paths for our stroller but some are packed crushed rock. Some wheelchairs had problems. Nice monuments & rebuilt fort. Our little kids liked it because of the Disney Pocahontas movie. The boardwalk to the site is good for seeing...More

So, depending on how you tour CW, Jamestown, & Yorktown, by the 2nd or 3rd day, you begin to feel like you are hearing the same message again. Quite frankly, you are. Should you tour all 3 sites —— emphatic YES! However, if you begin...More
