We had an excellent 2 touring days with John. He had many, many great stories that transported us back to the early colonial days. Many of the key players, John Smith, Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Washington, Sir Walter Raleigh and yes, even Blackbeard came alive as we visited Jamestown & Williamsburg with him. We appreciated that he was able to put... More

We came to Yorktown to learn about the final battle of our victory for independence and learned so much more. We were a group of 8 cruising couples on boats and Jon answered our questions on the fly plus so much more. Jon Sutton is also an expert on John Smith and we got a bonus of interesting facts as... This tour was more suited for old folks. John Sutton seemed exasperated that we wanted to keep moving. We expected history to come alive, but it died in his rigid, detached delivery. We could have picked up a brochure and gotten the same information. No enthusiasm so we left the tour feeling grateful it was over.

We found John Sutton on TripAdvisor and are so happy we booked him. As others have done, we spent a whole day touring Jamestown and Yorktown. He really did make the history and the people come alive for us. We would never have gotten as much from visiting these sights on our own and we learned so much. If you... More

We spent all day Tursday with John doing historic Jamestown and Yorktown. The stories never stopped and desire for more grew with each new story. We'd do it again at the drop of a cannon ball...oops hat!

I found John on the internet and couldn't of been happier with the result. Spring for a private tour with John and then go back and spend more time with the things that really interest you. His insight and historical stories will keep you wanting more. Very responsible and punctual. We had a group of five and thoroughly enjoyed our... More

I have been a teacher for 17 years in Maryland. I have taken my 5th grade class on an overnight Williamsburg-Jamestown field trip for the past 12 years. About eight years ago I met Mr. Sutton as our Williamsburg Ghost tour guide. He has become the highlight of our trip. He had my kids engaged from their first steps off... More

We went on a 2 hour private tour of Colonial Williamsburg with John Sutton. He knows his history and we enjoyed our tour very much and learned a lot, too. We highly recommend him -- he's personable, entertaining, and very smart, too. He really helped us to understand what was going on in Colonial Williamsburg during that time.

John met us on time, and the rest was history.... Literally! This guy knows his stuff! My kids were fascinated (as was I) with his Jamestown tour. He has 100 stories each one made you go -wow! Interesting, not preachy. Just a few of the cool facts we learned - why nautical speed is measured in "knots", and Why does... More
