So fun to board the ferry for the short trip over the river to Surry County. Easy access with great staff to make sure you get on and off smoothly. Fun for the kids to climb upstairs for the view of Jamestown settlement.

I realized doing my journey that I was on the Ferry with people who probably take this trip everyday or often, as I was too excited. This was my first experience on the ferry as an adult and I was MORE excited as an adult...More

It wasn't too long, nice breeze, fun to watch the birds and see other ferries and boats...even the drive to the ferry was lovely - great views, sweet countryside and nice to see everything!

Something fun to do just for a free adventure. Loading is usually pretty quick and it's fun just to get out of your car and enjoy the river ride. Really nice at sunset, and some great photo shots. You can turn around and cross back...More

My wife and I decided to check out the Ferry last night and it was awesome. Quick boarding and de-boarding process, and despite the amount of people and vehicles on the boat, it was still peaceful. definitely worth checking out!!

Nice ferry ride and easily accessable to Smithville. It is located at the end of Jamestown Road,, not far from the Jamestown visitors facilities. It is easy to board and the are plenty of directions.

The ferry has operated since 1925 and now is run by the state. It operates 24 hours, 365 days. If you are visiting Jamestown, it's a fun adventure to go over to Surry for lunch.

Pleasantly good ride. Drive your car onboard, get out and enjoy the calm transport. Go to the upper deck to view the shore lines.

I love this free ferry! It cut the time for our road trip significantly and was a pleasant ride. What an exciting service to discover as we drove out of Jamestown.

Yes, but you may not get turned around in time to catch the same ferry and will end up waiting for the next one. about 20 min.

You can walk on the ferry on either side but you'll need to arrange transportation on each side, especially the Surry side. There is a great seafood restaurant close to the ferry. The ferry is alway fun. Enjoy it!
