Horrible experience , they had a broken machine in the arcade I told the employee in the arcade and I also warned people not to play the machine and was told I couldn't warn people about it then I was asked to leave

For A First-timer It Is Quite Impressive

Getting some father/adult-son time on a recent Sunday afternoon, we happened to be in the area and thought why not stop by to take a look. For a first timer it’s all quite impressive, especially to the young children. Children and adults alike we’re having a Merry Time with smiles on everyone’s faces. Once or twice here for me would be quite enough as it is definitely tailored to the young adults & their children.

had lots of fun at gwl the price was just good for 14 people that went with me and we stay there for 5 days and the price was the best and my kids had a blast at GWL i recommend this place

Terrible check in service

Ground mound location was terrible! They were rude and slow during check in. Person checking in kept hide her name tag as I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager. Another employee finally told me her name was Kimbra. I also called repeatedly and phone lines directly to front desk wouldn't work. I was given an email address to contact the manager. Appalling behavior for an upset customer. Only more upsetting when you ask to speak with someone and they will not comply. To much money to pay for such poor service.

It was awesome and clean and very nice no bad things and a lot of people make up bad stuf about hotels to get a free stay but this was so nice and peaceful

Review for COVID visit

I've been to GWL before but wanted to give a rating about COVID protocols because I wasn't really able to find many good reviews about this before our trip although the only reason we decided to give it a try was because a friend went a few weeks ago and said how safe it was. I didn't feel the same way.

First the good:
*They had lots of people doing cleaning of railings, etc.
*Lots of hand sanitizer stations
*All staff were masked and seemed to take wiping things down very seriously
*plastic shields when you were ordering something ,etc.
*they had stated rules for masking, distancing, numbers of families allowed in a space, etc.

Now the bad:
*They say they are at 25% capacity for the water park. That might be 25% capacity for the fire marshal. Not from what it normally is. It was CROWDED including on the weekday we were there. There was NO social distancing and no mask wearing in the park. I was uncomfortable with it and we did our best to come first thing in the morning for an hour and then the last 1.5 hours of the day when it was more quiet (although the kids begged to go more).
*I would say at least 15% of the adults walking around in the public areas (not the water park but in the hotel, gift shop, hallways, Starbucks) were wearing their mask under their chin or under their nose....and I saw at least 10 adults wearing no mask at all (including one couple who wanted to ride in the elevator with my family). They had nobody enforcing their rules. Maybe a staff member or two could just be assigned to walk around and gently remind people that the mask needs to be over the nose and mouth as per all of the signage and the agreement that guests sign?
* They had rules about 2 families allowed in the wand place and candy shop at a time but were not enforced there either. I had to tell this to a family behind me and they were fine with it but it seems like that should be a staff job given I have no real authority!
*The big slides up top only had 1 employee working both slides which meant really long lines with ZERO distancing and zero attempt to do so. They are maybe justifying this because of lower capacity but as I said...it's not really that much lower (if at all).

The lack of distancing and masking in the water park is actually less distressing to me than the lack of enforcement elsewhere in the resort because as I understand there doesn't seem to be much transmission risk in an environment so heavily chlorinated. However, overall, I don't think if I had it to do over again that I would go at this time. I'm definitely pretty careful about COVID and this is by far the biggest risk I have taken and I am regretting it (although nobody got sick). If you're pretty casual about the restrictions you will probably be fine with it, I just got fed up and frustrated with people not following masking and distancing and staff not addressing it.

The kids had a great time and was the most I've seen them smile since the pandemic began....but still not something I'd probably do again until the pandemic is further behind us.

Never Going Back

Had to evacuate our home due to fires and decided to give it chance. What a mistake. Our lives may have been in more danger. Zero social distancing and mask wearing not enforced at all. We left two pillows in our room and called immediately but got absolutely zero help. They didn’t care at all and put in no effort to help us. Not very difficult to send someone to the room, grab our pillows and hold them for us to pick up later. Instead they said the pillows weren’t found. What a great way to cap off a $700 night by having 2 very expensive pillows stolen by the staff or just absorbed by the hotel. BS! Btw I’ve been in hospitality for 20 years and didn’t expect much. Would never have written this review if they’d shown a sliver of willingness to help.
Never going back and we will not be recommending it to anyone.

Hectic, expensive and totally over-rated

Pool is small, couldn't go down the younger kids' waterslides WITH my son, so he was too scared to try on his own. So that was a total BUST. And waste of money. Pool was over-crowded and SO loud you couldn't hear what each other was saying even if someone was standing beside you. Arcade was SO expensive; we could only afford a few games.
Side note, we saw no opportunities for recycling.
We kept a happy face on for the boys, but after visiting Legoland and Disney, wasting my precious vacation time and my money at this Lodge left a lot of disappointment for my wife and I.
