It is a bit of a walk .6 miles I believe up to the lighthouse. Part of the trail is winding and a little mudddy on a rainy day. But what lighthouse isn't worth a walk on a muddy trail. Oregon/Washington Coastal areas are raincoat and rainboot must haves! On a sunny day it is a great view towards the... More

It is a short flat family friendly hike to this historic lighthouse that is being renovated. What a stunning view and a reminder our place in nature. It's easy to imagine the history of the area and what lighthouse work was like in the early 1900s. Great spot to visit.

A beautiful lighthouse still in use. You can only view it from the outside as the Coast Guard still uses the building to monitor shipping entering the Columbia River. You can hike from the Interpretative center or drive around and park closer

We hiked the trail between the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. When actually at the Lighthouse site you're somewhat restricted as to where you can walk. You can't go up in the Lighthouse nor into the building where the employees view the waterways with a huge set of binoculars. Even so, it's a great point... More

Sort of must see. Nothing quite like it. The path from the parking lot meanders a bit, and is muddy in patches, before it reaches USCG tarmac leading to the lighthouse. Good .6 mile walk each way. I ran into a couple loose dogs on 'their' trail which was bit of a stir (please leash your dogs). The lighthouse itself... More

At my age it is a good walk to the lighthouse but well worth it. Very scenic views of the mouth of the Columbia River.

A fairly easy walk walk up to the lighthouse, was a bit muddy in parts however, once we reached the top all was forgotten. Beautiful

We did not realize ahead of time how long and difficult the hike to the lighthouse would be. We gave up about halfway there with the inclines and uneven path in the rain and just went to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to view it from afar instead.

If you find yourself traveling between the Seattle-Tacoma area and Astoria / Seaside corridor, you're going to want a side trip to Cape Disappointment. Visiting family along the WA / OR coastline for the past 15 years, my wife and I are always surprised with new finds. Our most recent visit led us to Cape Disappointment while returning to Port...
