Given the stormy weather in Ocean Shores in mid-December, we decided to spend a couple of hours Sunday inside the Coastal Interpretive Center--it's only open on weekends during winter months. We found displays of wildlife, beach critters, shipwrecks, beachcombing gifts from across the ocean, local history and geology (large display on the Cascadia subduction zone). Several displays are designed for... More

We found this place by accident, and I am so glad that we did. We got a wonderful overview of the history of the area and the wildlife, people and places to see. All of this done by the docent volunteers that were so charming and happy to share their knowledge and love of this place. A must see!!

We're very glad we found this little treasure. It doesn't look like much from the outside but there are a bunch of neat nuggets inside. We were welcomed as we entered and given an overview of the place. Lots of very interesting things to see, videos to watch and things to touch. Nice little gift shop. A nice little place... More

It turns out that the Penninsula is a very dynamic place! They have a good display on the early history as well as the current geologic issues facing the Penninsula. It is located at the end of a large nature preserve and contains very good displays about the plant and animal life here. I know there are animals around because... More

We stopped by on a whim, only to discover that they were closed and undergoing renovations. However, one of the volunteers came out to greet us and allowed us in to view the exhibits, even though we were sort of in the way as they were working on remodeling the interior. All of the volunteers were friendly, welcoming, and (justifiably)... More

We loved the Interpretive Center. It was full of fun and interesting facts about the area. They were closed doing some renovations but let us walk through minding the power cords. Such friendly folks!

Not much to look at on the outside but definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. All volunteers and they are very helpful and are clearly proud of their facility.
