The docents act as your tour guides. Each room has a different guide. Obviously some are more entertaining than others but all the guides were informative. I toured the mansion 5 years ago. I think you’d learn something new on every tour. The dining room...More

The tour is free. Just sign up for it in the basement of the State Capitol next to the gift shop. The tour guides are very knowledgeable. They love telling you about the history of the mansion and showing off this beautiful house.

My husband along with other distingushed Washington teachers were honored at a reception at the Governors mansion. It was held indoors in early summer. The Governor and his wife greeted each recipient. The grounds are lovely

If the legislature is not in session then you can pack on he street close to the capitol building. Otherwise there is a paid parking lot within walking distance near the capitol about a block or so away on the Northeast side.
