We've been to Port Townsend many times, and finally went to the Aero Museum! The airplanes on exhibit are interesting, well explained. It is actually a teaching facility for your people. Most of the staff are teenagers, who work at the museum and spend hours learning how to restore airplanes and learning to fly.

I can’t say enough about how great this museum is! Especially for such a small airport: the Port Townsend International Airport. The museum staff said it was “international” because sometimes the customs agents need to come out – it is close to Canada. There are many restored (and some original) planes here and many of them still fly! The artwork... More

These airplanes are of an older type, but MOST are still in flying condition. In fact, the young staff use them to learn to fly. The restoration is done on site by most of the younger people who also staff the museum.

It's just a bit of a drive out of Port Townsend, a right turn I to the airport grounds. It's small, charming and interesting

Nice collection of vintage airplaines and art work. Not a large museum but it does have a good variety of vintage airplanes.

This is an out of the way spot in Port Townsend but worth the stop. Its pretty small but chalked full of planes. The real gem is getting to talk to the pilots the fly in.

Great museum- who would have thought that in such a small town as Port Townsend, there would be an aeronautical museum! Very interesting history and conveniently located at the Jefferson county airport.

This beautiful air museum has a twist - it educates youth on plane restoration and trains them as pilots. In exchange, youth volunteer at the museum and restoration facility. Large display area with knowledgeable guides. Worth a visit then have lunch at the Spruce Goose.

You tour on your own. Planes are on display both on the floor and suspended from the ceiling. There are also many historic photos and flight related exhibits. We saw everything in one hour. There is a small giftshop as well.

Great display of beautiful classic aircraft. Nice facility all privately funded. All but one of the aircraft that are displayed on the floor are maintained to be airworthy and are flown once a year. Other aircraft are hanging from the ceiling and are easily viewed from the mezzanine. Walls are filled with displays of aviation and aircraft history. A must... More
