We have been to the Pt Defiance Zoo and Aquarium a couple dozen times and still enjoy it greatly. The aquarium is not super big but it is a good educational part of the zoo. We enjoy the zoo's large presentations they offer during the day. Always very educational. The zoo offers Tacoma resident free days during the slower months... More

I've been to several parks around the area because I dislike being stuck on a treadmill for hours. And from all of the parks I've been to, this one is by far one of the prettiest. It's so pretty that while you're running you will encounter deer and a family of raccoons every couple of miles. It's like hiking deep... More

Point Defiance is the jewel of Tacoma and we are so fortunate to live near this beautiful place - a giant park, 702 acres (nearly 3 square km). It is double the size of Seattle's Seward Park. There are rose and dahlia gardens when you first come in, a large duck & turtle pond, the Japanese Garden & Pagoda and... More

We have visited Tacoma WA twice a year for almost 30 years. One thing we must do each trip is the drive through Point Defiance. No matter what time of the year, what time of day, and what the weather conditions are, it never disappoints in it's beauty. There is not charge to drive through the park, walk the trails,... More

We went here to whale watch, but it was entirely too noisy on a weekday to see any. So we walked around. Unless you want soaking wet socks and shoes, stick to the walking paths. They have a gazebo and Japanese gardens. We also saw a ton of birds feeding on the lawn. Very nice.

The park is very pretty, especially the 5 mile Scenic drive. There are many signs to watch for wildlife- the only animals we saw were raccoons, but an unbelievable amount of them, all sunning on the side of the road- very cute. There is also a fort to visit but unfortunately we arrived there at 4:05 and it closed at... More

Beautiful park. Has a great view of Tacoma and the sound. Japanese garden next to it is definitely worth a walk. Very peaceful. Lots of areas to sit or have a picnic.

First time in the area and had a couple extra hours to explore. WONDERFUL Park with nicely maintained easy hiking trails, great views.

This 760 acre forested park in the northwest Tacoma is a local gem. Be sure and stop at some of the viewpoints, enjoy the rose and dahlia gardens and a picnic in the summer, and take a walk on the miles of trails in the forest or along the Puget Sound at Owen Beach. On weekend mornings, the 5 Mile... More
