Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

We visited this zoo because it was advertised as a rehabilitation zoo. What we saw there left us with a sickening feel to the stomach and caused us to make a bee line to the exit. Animals uncared for. Sitting in their own filth. Repeated...More

I had not been to this zoo for almost 20 years. We went on Fathers Day. It is very beautiful and well landscaped. It was a hot day so not as many animals were out. The map makes the zoo look small, but it took...More

This is one of my favorite zoos. It has a small aquarium on the inside, and this part is fantastic. You can touch the sting rays while you're here. I also did a special encounter where you can dive in the shark tank, which was...More

My husband and I were visiting Seattle for my birthday trip. We discovered that this zoo offered a neat experience to dive with sharks in the aquarium. We booked a month in advance and highly anticipated this experience. The dive ticket also covers the cost...More

Under construction right now. Shoulld be great when it's done. Good kids area. If you have problems climbing hills, pace yourself. The whole zoo area is on a hillside.

This is a nice, well planned zoo. Small enough to do in a half day (I was visiting with my family and 2 yr old niece). The show at noon was fun. They’ll be opening the new aquarium this summer, looks to be quite nice....More

This is one thing that needs no explanation. The animals and keepers really know what you are wanting to see and they provide with excellence. Birds you can feed. Rays and sharks you can touch. Even a petting area includes a true hands on experience....More

In a parklike setting, offering spectacular sights. The aquarium’s offer amazing views of sea life from the walruses to the sharks. I have been to both woodland park, and pt defiance recently and pt defiance is in my opinion definitely the more desireable park.
