The fence of 1000 wheels that surrounds the former dairy barn turned artisan center is a must see attraction when you visit the beautiful Palouse farming region in southeastern Washington. Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that cultivates creativity by providing studio space for working artists, a venue for local performing and exhibiting artists, and creative experiences for children and adults through classes and workshops. There is no daily admission fee and the building is fully handicap accessible. Visitors are encouraged to engage the working artists to learn about what they do. The gift shop has fine art and fine crafts created locally as well as books and videos about the Palouse and specialty food items made from ingredients grown on the palouse. The exhibit changes monthly and features work of a local artist or work about the Palouse.

I've visited twice and never have I left without a treasure...or two, or three! Last time I purchased a tiny bead piece of a dragon, complete with bead flames, all just three by four inches! I bought a precious turkey feather painted (so tiny) of a cowboy herding cattle! This isn't crafty junk. This is real talent, and three floors... More

The remodeled barn is an architectural wonder.with 3 floors of artists at work plus many art projects for sale throughout the barn. This is well worth a stop to browse through the various types of artistry. Paintings, sewing art, pottery, glassware, wood art, metal art....it is all there. Allow two hours to completely absorb the hundreds of art works, and... More

Visiting this location gives you insight to all the hidden artists there are in the Palouse Region. The workmanship is fabulous and the variety of goods offered are amazing. My conscience, aka the husband, was with me so my pocketbook didn't empty out quite as much as I would have liked.

There is a cultural treasure tucked away in Uniontown, WA in the midst of the Palouse rolling hills. Today I was lucky enough to attend the opening of a show of three local artists; small, tastefully presented pieces. At least two of the artists were present to visit with attendees. Surrounding the show were the ever present and always interesting... More

This old dairy barn has been updated to house 3 floors of art and art studios all showcasing local artists. There are even artists at work while you roam. The "Wheel Fence" that surrounds the property contains over 1,000 steel wheels mostly from old farm equipment.

Friends and neighbors who have visited all loved their "Barn experience." It is a fun and wonderful surprise out in farm country for the whole family.
