Really pretty surroundings only 15 min out of Camas. We bumped into lots of bird photographers and families. The track is really easy and there's also some educational features which the kids will love. Take a packed lunch and make a day if it 😊

wildlife viewing area. Huge acreage donated and developed so you can seasonally view both forest birds and waterfowl. Beautifully designed with informational signs.

This is an easy 3+ mile gravel trail. We have seen deer, a swan, ducks, geese, Eagles, and other birds on this trail. To get more miles, we usually walk along the dike, along the Columbia River. I highly recommend this trail for beginner hikers or families!

It's a nice long half mile walk from where you park your car to the river with grassland and birds along the way and get a taste of the Columbia River Valley without all the development.

We come here often at all seasons. A lovely walk from the parking lot out to the dike bordering the Columbia River is about a mile each way. There are placards along the way describing the local wildlife, whimsical sculptures of insects, maps, bridges, lilies in the backwater and reflections of clouds. It's different every single time! One of my... More

Easy walk and you can almost always see wildlife. I've attached a couple of pictures. You can usually see turtles on a log by the bridge.

After leaving the parking lot, stop at the kiosk and check the Wildlife Sightings whiteboard - it lists animal sightings for the day and will help whet your appetite for your walk. A few steps further lead to some displays regarding the birds, then on to the water! Following the flat, easy trail further south to the bridges, you will... More

Wonderful walk with beautiful views, natural landscaping, waterways, many types of birds, deer, turtles, etc. Espcially nice in the morning and early evening. > Dogs, bicyclists and runners not allowed due to Refuge classification > During warmer months loop trail is open, cooler months up and back trail is still very nice. > This is located right off of Hwy... A great nature hike close to home in Washougal! So many unique birds, plus it's pretty routine to spot majestic bald eagles. Haven't seen other critters or animals...just heaps of birds. The walk is very pretty and of course scenic. 5 stars.

We only live a few miles from Steigerwald, so come here fairly often, and it's a wonderful stroll during any season. We always end up seeing a wide variety of birds and other animals including Eagles, swans, woodpeckers and many small mammals. It's a fairly short walk on a level gravel path that winds through fields and groves of trees... More
