So this past weekend we found out that there is a museum in Yakima! I'd only lived for the first 18 years of my life and had no idea that this place existed. We were really glad that we found it as it was a nice little trip back through the history of the Yakima Valley. They have some tremendous... More

Impressive local museum! The building is very grand and loaded with a whole trove of history. The electric neon signs, carriage collection, giant high heel shoe, and artifacts from a couples personal travels around the world are fascinating. Nice work Yakima!

My husband and I spent an afternoon here. Very interesting history, great collections and memorabilia! Very surprising was discovering the history of our Japanese immigrants, their culture, influence and the daunting impact of WWII on their lives. Well worth a visit, it is easy to spend a couple hours or more. Kids enjoy it a lot too, and there is... More

You'll get a good overview and background of the history of the valley. We enjoyed our visit and spent about 60-90 minutes at the museum. reasonable price

My 8 & 9 year old granddaughters were totally entertained by the vintage clothing, shoes, sleighs, and carriages.

The Yakima Valley Museum (YVM) is one of the best community supported museums in Washington State. It holds an excellent collection of wagons and buggies that are well preserved and displayed. There are exhibits that highlight the contributions made by Native Americans and early pioneers who settled in the Yakima Valley, eventually developing irrigation systems to bring water to a... This local museum offers historical background on the area (paleontology, Yakima valley, and orchard farming) that is facinating. This is a great museum for kids because there are so many old artifacts. (They have a special kids area too.) Don't get me wrong, this museum will draw the attention of adults too. They have a fascinating rock collection; I saw... More

We attended a concert in the evening so the main Museum wasn't open but we did get to wonder around the basement and upper floor to view exhibits during the intermission. Very fun to see the old neon lights and the history of early settlers in the Yakima Valley.

This is a wonderful museum for a great overview history of the Yakima Valley. The museum includes some fun general things like antique buggies but also history specific to Yakima. The William O Douglas exhibit is interesting, as is the WWII history.

We stopped here to take a break from a long drive home. What an interesting and well curated museum. Being of Japanese descent, I found the section on the Internment very interesting. The same occurred up and down the Pacific Northwest so I was well informed, but it always interests me to learn about what it was like in other... More
